Whatever the child’s ability is, aim that the whole plan is to increase his learning ability. Almost all children are excited to learn in the beginning but discouragement and disappointment from many and nonstop failures will dampen the spirit.

  1. Bear in mind that at the start each child has difficulty learning but will eventually pass this stage as days go by. Realizing this is the first best thing to do for your child.
  2. List down the observed learning abilities or behavior of the child. Does he refuse to read? Does it take long for him to complete a task or an assignment? Does he demand more attention? Is it difficult for him to follow? In each indication is the key to the child’s potential to learn.
  3. Talk to an expert or to a group of experts to review what you have listed down. Compare the test results of the child. Consultations can help to understand what the child is going through. If information is enough, you can choose the best thing to do next.
  4. Look for a specific skills training option that suits the child. Do not spend money and time on tutoring services if they cannot remedy the problem.
  5. Help the child to achieve according to his intellectual capacity. Do this a few hours each day. You will see the result later but this would require effort and persuasion.
  6. Check if your child’s desire to learn had increased or is faster than what you expected.

Very good information. This reminds me an article in the Newsweek dated 19 February 1996 by Sharon Begley. Here is the google link: http://www.frenchforfun.com/Links%20Pages/Brain.ht

Good Tips Bingskee - You would make a lovely Teacher.

Love the kids photo's too. (Don't they just look adorable when their front teeth are missing). :)
