During rainy days, kids easily get bored due to the fact that they are unable to run around outside and that they are forced to stay indoors. Kids simply love the outdoors. Making kids stay indoors can be very difficult most of the time. This is because kids have boundless energies and they long for activities that will keep them on the go. Here are some interesting rainy day activities that you can have your kids do to stay active while being indoors:

  • Let your kids play games. There are hundreds of indoor games that kids can play from board games, jigsaw puzzles and many more. They can also play with their toys indoors such as dolls and cars. There are a lot of options for kids when it comes to indoor games and toys. Monopoly is a favorite among kids and would surely keep them occupied for a long time since the game can go on for hours.
  • Do some arts and crafts. There are a lot of indoor recreational activities that can bring out the creative side of your kids. You can make them do clay modeling, sketching, painting, puppet making and many more. Of course you have to take into consideration the age of your kids when you choose which art crafts are appropriate for their age range. The most popular arts and crafts activity for kids of any age range is coloring. You can buy a lot of coloring books that focuses on their favorite themes or you can simply print coloring pages which you can get for free in most online websites.
  • Cooking. This will be a good way for you to bond with your kids. Involve your kids in the kitchen and make simple dishes. You can teach them how to make sandwiches on their own for the young ones. A favorite kitchen activity among kids is baking cookies since they are allowed to mold the dough on their own and they will surely have fun eating their own creations.
  • Teaching. You can make use of the time to teach your kids a few skills such as improving their reading or writing, playing musical instruments, teaching them simple household chores and the likes. It would help to award them after they complete each task so that they will be encouraged to learn and do more.

Indoor activities should make sure that your kids make use of their boundless energy through activities that would work more on their mental capabilities. They are one way to get the whole family together and enhance child development.
