Buying an Industrial Washing Machine Can Be a Challenge -- Unless You Read This Guide

Fortunatly, this industrial washing machine buyer’s guide will help you navigate those difficulties.

There are two main types of industrial washing machines: front loading washing machines and top loading washing machines. There are some important differences between the two that you should know about.

Front load washing machines have a door in the front of the machine as opposed to the top area. A few years ago, most of these front loading washing machines were commercial washing machines – usually only seen at commercial laundromats.

You operated front loading commercial washing machines by placing laundry in through the front door. You can then add various detergents and additive chemicals. You can control the various laundry setting through a control panel on the front.

However, this type of washing machine has made its way into households now because they are easier to load. For industrial or commercial use, you will probably choose a front loading machine.

Top load washing machines have a door at the top of the machine. This is the standard washing machine that many households have. They are typically cheaper than front load washers and you can buy them in a variety of sizes.

So why should you buy a front load industrial washing machine? Four primary reasons:

1. Easier To Use

The number one reason to buy a front loader is because they are so much easier to load than a top loading machine. For ease of use, you can’t argue with the benefits of a front loading machine. Most industrial washing machines are front loaders, though most major brands will offer models in both front loader and top loader types.

2. More Space Efficient
Front load washing machines are also more space efficient. You can essentially cut the amount of space required for both a washing machine and a dryer. With a top load machine, if you want to have both a washing machine and drier, you will have to place both machines side by side – something that eats up lots of space. This is especially true if you are using commercial grade laundry equipment. Putting both a commercial washing machine and a commercial laundry dryer side by side will take a lot of space – something you may not be able to do.

If you are seriously thinking about buying a laundromat business, then something like space is a priority. Commercial washing machines (specifically the front load variety) will allow you to place more machines in the same space.

You can place an industrial laundry dryer on top of a front load washing machine, saving lots of space. This is why laundromats always have a washing machine dryer combo, with the bottom as a front load machine and the top as a dryer.

3. More Energy Efficient
Another compelling reason to choose a front loader because they are simply much more energy efficient. Depending on your settings, you can save almost 70% of the energy a top loader would use.

In short, front load washing machines leave a dramatically less energy footprint than do their top load counterparts. You save significant amounts of water and energy which means you save money on your utility bill.

The energy and water efficiency of a front load commercial washing machine is why almost all laundromat businesses have only front load machines. Any business or organization that will constantly use the machine will save heaps of money.

Note that there is no guarantee that you will save 70% more energy if you buy a commercial front load washing machine, but you will save money. If you are considering buying a laundromat or even just starting a laundromat, you will want industrial washing machine equipment.

4. Use Less Water
The design of a front loading washing machine also means less water is needed to wash the laundry, translating into even more benefits. In general, you can expect to use only 60% of the water that a top loading machine would require.

Now, there is a con to front load machines. They are typically more expensive than top load washers – at least initially. However, if you figure in the long term costs though, front load washing machines are much cheaper than top loaders. So pay more now, pay less later. Pay less now for a top load machine; pay more in utility bills later.

It’s a bit challenging when deciding upon an industrial washing machine. However, does your research, know the features, and most importantly, know exactly what you need the washing machine for. Don’t just buy a big commercial laundry machine because it gives a better wash than a home-based washing machine. These machines are meant to be installed in laundromats or serve many users all day long.
