Quick and Easy Snack Ideas for Kids

Those little pre-packaged snack packs can be costly! Many of them are also unhealthy with either little nutritional value or can be fattening. As a Mom of 6, I came up with some quick, healthier versions which I hope give you inspiration.

Flavored/Light Popcorn Mix:
My kids love smartfood. I love serving them no fat popcorn. To make a compromise, I pop 2 bags of the no fat popcorn & put in a big bowl. I then add a large bag of lo-fat smartfood for flavor. I mix these 2 ingredients & put in plastic bags for the kids to grab and bring to school. It's a healthy alternative as it's flavorful for the kids, lo-fat and full of fiber.

Make your own Trail Mix:
Here comes the big bowl again! I got this idea from one of my daughter's friends Moms & added my own twist. It's basically chex or trail mix, with items your kids will love. I mix in a big bowl a box of chex cereal. I then add M&M's, peanuts, chocolate chips, banana chips (or any dried fruit you enjoy...raising, cranberries, pineapples). Toss these items & put in plastic bags. The cereal and peanuts are good for your kids, sweeten it and the chocolate makes your kids love it! Quick, inexpensive, makes a lot and super yummy!

Little Dippers:
In the supermarket now, they sell individual packs of ranch dressing or peanut butter. If your short on time, these are a great idea. You could also make your own little dippers if you purchase small plastic portable containers. In these containers you could put: Ranch dressing, Peanut Butter, Yogurt, Cream Cheese. To dip in these: pretzels, carrots, different colored pepper strips, cucumber chunks, Apple Chunks, Strawberries, Bananas, whatever your child desires. How healthy & simple & the idea's are limitless!

Fruit Kabobs:
These are great in your kids lunchboxes, for snacks or anytime! At the grocery store, you can buy bags of kabob sticks. On the kabobs you can put chunks of apples, pineapples, strawberries, kiwi, grapes etc. You can even mix fresh fruit with dried for variety. You can roll these kabobs in coconut flakes, mini chocolate chips, sprinkles, colored sugar, you name it! Healthy, sweet & fun!

Hope some of these idea's give you inspiration for your own healthy & fun snack twist!

Hm-mm, great ideas-- I was going to write a hub on this. I still might and if so, I will definitely link this.
