Inexpensive Mother's Day Gifts
61Jewelry Doesn't Have to be Expensive for Mom to Appreciate it.
Buying Mom a Mother's Day Gift Without Breaking Your Piggy Bank
Bigger isn't always better, especially if you're talking about Mother's Day gifts. You can buy a wonderful gift for your mom without spending a lot of money. Here are a few great ideas for inexpensive Mother's Day gifts:
- Flowers are always a hit, but roses are often more expensive around special holidays. Why not buy Mom a rose bush instead? She'll remember your thoughtful gift every year when her bush blooms and you'll save thirty or more dollars, depending on the bush you buy.
- Forget roses. Buy Mom a bunch of her favorite daisies or lilies instead. A cut flower bouquet that you arrange yourself can be as inexpensive as ten dollars. (If you aim for cheaper than ten dollars, you'll probably end up with a bouquet from the reduced rack. Almost dead flowers aren't a great choice.)
- If your mom likes to curl up with a cup of tea and a good book, gift giving is easy. Buy a box of specialty tea, a pretty mug and a new bestseller. This gift can range from thirty to fifty dollars, depending on the size of the box of tea and the price of the book. If you have some spare change, tuck in a few Biscotti.
- If being on the go is more your mom's style, tuck a bag of her favorite coffee in a mug and buy a good book on tape for her to listen to as she jogs or drives from one place to the next. Books on tape can be a bit pricey, but if you find a sale, you can buy the coffee, mug and tape for twenty five to thirty five dollars.
Homemade Gifts are Great for Mom and Your Budget
Most moms really treasure homemade gifts from their children. They know their children have used valuable time and energy to make those gifts. Since most kids have more time than money, homemade gifts are the ideal option for Mother's Day. Of course, even grown up kids can save money and make a special gift for mom.
Here are a few great ideas for homemade gifts that are very budget friendly:
- Write a letter. It is a very simple idea, but so meaningful for moms. Write a letter telling your mother how special she is and add a few of your favorite memories from your childhood.
- Make a scrapbook of memories. You will have a few expenses, but you can make a scrapbook for under twenty dollars if you don't fall for all those cute die cuts, stickers and fancy papers.
- Knit, crochet, or sew a gift. A simple blanket is a useful and practical gift that mom can use when she sits on the porch to enjoy those cool and comfortable May evenings. If you aren't able to sew or knit, you can still make a blanket from fleece. Just cut the blanket shape out and then cut one half inch wide by two inch deep slits the entire way around the blanket to make a fringe.
- Make your own gift certificates redeemable for babysitting, toilet cleaning, or other jobs mom doesn't enjoy. The catch with this one is that you actually have to do the chores without griping when she redeems her gift certificates.

I think that sometimes people forget to include the non-materialistic plesusres in life. For example, picking up the phone to call Mom om Mother's Day is a great "gift". If you asked most Moms what they enjoy most about Mother's Day, they'd say family. In this day and age, calling to anywhere in the world is relatively <b>inexpensive<b> as long as you use the right product/service.
