Infant Snoring
66Causes of Infant Snoring
A baby sleeping is one of the most precious moments enjoyed by parents. However, sometimes sleep time may cause some concerns for the parents. Many parents wake several times at night to see if their baby is breathing. If infant snoring is loud enough that the parents can easily hear the infant without a monitor, they might start worrying about infant snoring. The parents may wonder what infant snoring cures are available.
Infant snoring can be attributed to several things. Because infants do not breathe through their mouth, if they have any nasal congestion they will tend to snore. Nasal congestion can be caused by colds or allergies. Sometimes babies inherit their parents snore. This may be related to the facial and throat structure that was passed on to the baby from parents.
What are infant snoring remedies?
Saline Spray and Humidifier
Nasal congestion can be cured with saline spray. Many pediatricians recommend a basic saline spray to help clear the nasal structure. These sprays can be bought at your local drug pharmacy. Be careful that you do not get a saline spray with medication in it unless advised by your doctor. You can make your own version by diluting a quarter teaspoon of salt to 8 ounces of clean or pre-boiled water.
Another infant snoring solution is using a humidifier in the baby's room. Humidified air can help keep the nasal congestion moist this allows it to flow easier through the nasal passageway.
Suction Bulb or Nasal Aspirator
Use a suction bulb before nap or bed time to clear the babies nasal passageways of mucous or congestion. This is a simple remedy and should not be overlooked.
In some cases snoring surgery may be necessary to correct infant snoring. This can be a difficult thing to accept, however this correction early on can have many benefits for the rest of the infants life. The baby will be able to breath properly and grow to become a healthly child.
