Graphics Used Correctly to Improve Your Website Usability

Can there be an argument about the significance of website design in grabbing the attention Internet users. I don't think so. Nobody will bother to examine the contents of a website if it doesn't have eye-catching graphics that pleases the visual senses of the users. With all the many types of websites now on the web, it is becoming more difficult attracting surfers and keeping their interest in your website.

But a web site builder doesn't artlessly slap graphics freely to a site. Graphics need be used in the correct way, or users could possibly get turned off because of the overwhelming or confusing nature of the graphics featured.

Having a good-looking design is important for reasons you already know. When making the choice of design, you must carefully consider if it will fulfill the needs of visitor. When you have done this successfully, it could safely be said that the goals of the web site have been achieved.

The graphics used today on the web are inevitably coupled to multimedia. This combination of graphics, text, sound, and animation is used to get a message across to users. The websites content should deside which multimedia features will be incorporated for use. Graphics and multimedia need to support the content and have a instructional purpose.

Here are some guidelines for incorporating graphics to your web sites:

1. Justify the reason for the graphics
One distinct problem that stands out on web pages is that the graphics are over-used. The downside of this is that elaborate and unnecessary graphics can make the download time extremely long, and since noboby likes this, does not sit well with website visitors.

2. Graphics with text-redundant data facilitates and helps in the learning process, graphics containing information that is non-redundant does not either help or slow down the learning.

3. The priority in graphic design should be consistency

4. Web pages should be built to where the text will be downloaded before the graphics. This way, if the page has the information that they are looking for, the user will know immediately. They will have saved the waiting time in knowing that they do not need that page before the graphics load.

5. The graphics loading should run from top to bottom, so that the users when scrolling down the page will experience said graphics.

6. Users hate to wait. Pages need to download fast, so that users don't get frustrated and abandon their plans to download.
To achieve fast download periods:

-Keep the graphics physical size to a minimum
-Combine images so as to minimize the number of server connections.
-Decrease the resolution of the image
-The use of colors for the image to a minimum
-The use of animation should be limited, too much animation on display can irritate and distract users
-blinking texts should be avoided

The only thing to remember is that the benefit of the users is always the number one basis for everything.

Wireless Network Security - Things To Think About

These days it seems to be that everything is going wireless. This is convenient, but there are some issues of safety and security of your personal information. There are hackers who will break into wireless networks for only the one reason of getting your personal information. This allows your identity to be stolen and to simply drain you of all of the money in your accounts. This is why when anyone using this technology must give some serious thought about wireless network security.

Alot of home systems have built-in wireless network security offering peace of mind. These are designed so that no one can gain access, unless they have the access code.

With a wireless system, you may recognize that you can come up with different signals when you connect your computer to the Internet. You should notice that some signals are secure and some signals not. You should be able to connect to the unsecured signals, but without the correct access code you should not be able to connect to the secured ones. This happens
when the wireless network security is in place and working correctly.

Laptops have made it very easy for just about anyone to connect to the web in certain places, (WiFi Hotspots), but heed the warning that comes with this.

This is where you better think about wireless network security. There are hotels, coffee houses, and many other places that offer a free wireless Internet connection. However, there is no security or very little when using this type of service.

In terms of wireless network security, never use this type of access for your personal banking, using Paypal, or shopping when using a credit card. Identity thieves will easily get access to your accounts, you have made it so easy for them to get to your personal information.

When in a hotel using a wireless Internet connection, and you have to do your personal banking, there is no harm to ask the hotel if there is a business center with a secure connection. Just remember that, just because you have found something that works, you must remember that someone will be coming along after you leave, and have access to that computer. Be sure to sign out of everywhere you have been, even remove the cookies and history before leaving that computer. Although wireless network security is risky, do not leave clues on any secure connection that might be shared with others. Be sure to always, always, always use caution with any type of connection. Is your home connection secure? This problem is more of a worry in large urban areas, but your identity can be stolen in any small city or town as well.
