Inga Swearingen

Wonderful Jazz Vocalist

Inga Swearingen is a masterful jazz vocalist and song writer. She has one of the most clear, smooth voices I've heard. She has performed mulitple times, including the 30 year anniversary, on A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor; studied with Susanne Abbuehl in Switzerland; won the distinguished Shure Jazz Voice Competition at the World -Renowned Montreux Jazz Festival receiving both the votes from the judges and audience; and she holds a master's degree in choral conducting from Florida State University.

Inga has an amazing new website with videos of her music and performances; up to date list of happenings; her personal blog; a photo gallery; a press and bio kit; and contact information. Check out www.ingaswearingen.com; it's wonderful!

You can find both of her CDs, Learning How to Fly and Reverie, on CD Baby. Now on Amazon and iTunes, too!

Upcoming Events for Inga Swearingen

Impulse - Experimental Sound, Movement and Visual Art Performances by Diana Stanton and Inga Swearingen

Diana Stanton and Inga Swearingen will create a series of spontaneous art performances involving paint, sound and dance at ARTS Space Obispo in the SLO Creamery.

Stanton, a contemporary dancer, will create a “danced painting” by using her body as the painting tool. Her movements will be influenced by Swearingen’s vocals and audience participation in choosing paint colors.

ARTS Space Obispo SLO Creamery, 570 Higuera St., #165 San Luis Obispo, CA

Friday, April 6, 6:30 & 8 PM showings – Art After Dark

Sunday, April 15, Tax Day Matinee, 2 PM

Friday, May 4, 6:30 & 8 PM showings – Art After Dark

Tickets: $20 in advance at ARTS Obispo

Contact Info: Marta Peluso, Executive Director, ARTS Obispo (805) 544-9251 or director@sloartscouncil.org

Diana Stanton, Dancer, (805) 471-5078

Guitarist Jeff Miley will perform with Stanton and Swearingen during the Tax Day Matinee, and painter Michelle Stevens will join the duo for the May 4th performances. In the spirit of the 1950s and 60s, this event will follow the structure of art “happenings,” spontaneous art performances involving sound, movement, and visual arts. These events were often multi-disciplinary, lacked narrative and involved audience participation.

Simply a heavenly voice with wonderful stage presence and presentation. Her CD Learning to Fly is wonderful. I played it at a dinner party and the 2nd song 'Caravan' brought conversation to a stand still as everyone stopped to listen. I just cant say enough about this womans music.
