Our Injured Soldiers....

I was wondering where in Illinois “Joe Blow,” could go to support our injured soldiers? We have been in a war somewhere for a number of years now. Television has shown injured soldiers, but in my community it is like they do not exist. Where can you send charity, and know it is working toward the injured soldier directly, and not pay high fundraising expenses. Where are the fundraising events? Events so families can get out enjoy some activities with their children, and get from under the pressures of life for a little while. I know raising Charity for injured soldiers is not easy. Several problems exist when you start planning a charity event for injured soldiers.

Charity starts at home. Our young soldiers went out of the country to protect us still children themselves. Sure some are married and have children, but wouldn't you if there was a chance of being shipped off to war? These men and women are young with their whole lives ahead of them. Instead they went to fight our wars! We can not sit by, and not speak out on their behalf. Only I do not know where to start because it is difficult to raise money for such an important commodity (a human being who risked their lives for you).

Some problems with fundraising or event planning for injured military personnel are the same for any fundraising event. It is easy to raise funds for very popular charities like police, and firefighters. Unlike the above charities problems arise when it comes to our soldiers in the military.

Soliciting to a large group of people is not a good idea because most of the expenses from this type of campaign will use most of contributions raised. There will be very little or no funds to apply to any programs.

Some other fundraising for veterans is the use of greeting cards, and gifts included in solicitations. The problem is the size of the contribution. Generally, the gift is not given so the patron will contribute a matching amount. People tend to fell obligated to contribute some money to help pay for a gift. A person is not obligated to pay for any gift that they did not order so be aware.

There are injured soldiers out there who may not know where to start to get the assistance they may need. The military does have a handbook for the injured. It is long handbook but it will explain certain processes or steps needed to take to get support.
