How do you remove ink stains? It can be so hard to get Ink stains out? Ink is designed to leave a mark, I mean thats the whole point of it, But how do you remove ink if you get some on your clothes? This ink stain removal guide will give you some tips and tricks for removing ink stains. Good Luck!
Remember - ALWAYS try to get at your ink stain before it is dry, the quicker you can start trying to remove it the better. If you need to go to the shop to get some product, you could try soaking your garment in cold water whilst you are out so that the stain does not dry. Hot water is not a good idea though as the heat can actually set some inks.
also remember - Always try to blot an ink stain out, never scrub as you can make things worse. Blotting is where you dab at the stain with a piece of absorbent material, kind of like a patting motion.
Ball Point Pen Ink Stain removal
Most ink stains come from ball point
pens. My first piece of advice is to use more expensive pens in the
future!! That advice is not much help to you now though if you have
got some ink on one of your favourite shirts here are a few things
you can try.
You could try some professional branded ink-stain remover. There are companies, such as Carbona, that make special ink stain remover. Many of these will claim to be usable on all fabrics, but its always best to test that it wont damage your clothes by trying it in a discreet part of the shirt first. Carbona stain remover is one of the best, but there is bound to be other good stain removers at your local supermarket.
Rubbing alcohol can also be used to break down and remove ink stains. Lay the shirt out flat with the stain and pour rubbing alcohol over it, let sit for a while before patting getnly to try and soak up the stain as it comes loose, dont rub or scrub as you can end up just moving the stain around, which is not what you want.
If the stain is tough you can soak your garment in a mix equal parts water and vinegar. Soak over night then try to scrub the stain out with a brush(such as a toothbrush)
Permanent ink stain removal
If you got permanent ink on one of your favourite pieces of clothes then im afraid there is not much you can do. You can try bleeching, but even this doesnt always work completly on permanent ink stains, and you will probably be better off saving your efforts and just trying to find another exmple of your clothes to buy.
If you really want to try, then you could go again for some professional ink removing products or ink cleaners. Otherwise you could go and speak to your local dry cleaning service, as dry cleaners often know things about removing stains that other people dont. But if you have got a big permanent ink stain, well, good luck to you!
