Inky's Tattoo Gallery
78I made a comment in a hub a while back, that I am not into tattoos, that is I won't consider getting a tattoo, but if I ever changed my mind, I would have my friend Inky who is a tattoo artist living in Idaho give me one. I do however, admire the art and the ability of the tattoo artist to be able to actually create art on skin. I wonder what its like having to deal with the emotions and personalities of diverse clients while trying to create.
Inky is a beautiful, talented, gentle soul, with the most beautiful azure blue eyes that speak of her innate wisdom; she is highly spiritual, into meditation, practices Yoga, and often makes copies of inspiring spiritual thoughts or rambles as we like to call them and leaves them in the waiting room for her customers to read. She has had customer's travel to Idaho or wait years until they are ready and have her do their tattoos.
For those who are in her area or can travel, her shop is at:
TATTOOative
246 W. Center
Pocatello Idaho
Phone: 208-232-6493
The following is a collection of her work.

You think it, I ink it. ~Saying of tattooists
I leave you with some thoughts on tattoos:
"A genuine tattoo.... tells a story. I like stories and tattoos, no matter how well done, and if they don't tell a story that involves you emotionally, then they're just there for decoration, then they're not a valid tattoo. There has to be some emotional appeal or they're not, to my way of thinking, a real tattoo. It tells people what you are and what you believe in, so there's no mistakes. ~Leo, tattooist, 1993, quoted in Margo DeMello, Bodies of Inscription, 2000
The tattoo attracts and also repels precisely because it is different." ~Margo DeMello, Bodies of Inscription: A Cultural History of the Modern Tattoo Community, 2000
"Ink to paper is thoughtful
Ink to flesh, hard-core.
If Shakespeare were a tattooist
We'd appreciate body art more."
~Carrie Latet
"Primitive tribes were certainly convinced that the spirit, having escaped from the body at death, retained a replica of its earthly tenement. They therefore used tattoo marks as a means of identification in the next world and a passport to future happiness." ~Ronald Scutt

Those are some beautiful tats.
Peardiver: I will send her the link to this hub as she will appreciate your kind comments. I find it awesome we can connect to folks all over the world. New Zealand sounds exotic to me, LOL.
Ivorwen: I agree, she is a talented artist; wish she would also paint in canvas.
Thanks to you both for stopping by!
very good detail, and highlighting. Nice tatoos.
dori
Hi, Dori: Thanks for looking and commenting! :)
Love the fairy sitting on the crescent moon, and its placement. I could soooo never have that done. But it's way cool. So does she do fake tatoos? lol.
Frieda: I am too chicken to do a tattoo and do remember as a little girl using the fake ones on my hand. LOL.
great tatoo
I like the dragon softening into a heartshape tattoo. That's what I would choose from these pics if I wanted a tattoo but I think I'll just enjoy my son's. He has our last name tattoo going down his arm in colored letters. My daughter, well she went with the belly button ring, haha! It looks nice on her, never thought I'd be saying that, but it does! Thanks for sharing your friends art. Very nice!
Prasetio: Thanks for looking!
Dottie: good to see you here, I didnt' think my spiritual hub friends would stop by, as I wrote about something totally different than I generally do. LOL. That's cool you like your daughter's button ring, and that you seem to let your kids express themselves. Its nice to be that age, when almost everything looks good. :)
Violet, I LOVE the Before/After! The oldest of my tattoos needs that kind of job to get the color back :-)
It's funny how today tattoos are fashionable but a few years back they were associated to jailbirds or sailors or ... I knew I got more than a few looks back in the day :-)
thank you all for all the kind comments......my ego loves it....hehe.....the 'lovebird' tattoo is the ladies kids.....so IS forever.....these are jus from the last month....and i am allways respectfull of what my clients want and try not to influence....i jus try and confuse um....lol.....and when they keep comin back to one thing.....then i know that is the way i can please them the most.....:D....i am honored that peops let me do this to them.....thanks again....Namaste'.....love inkyONE*:*
Elena: Its true that the image of those who have tattoos has changed, and also of tattoo artists. After meeting Inky a few years ago, I realized there are no real stereotuypes when it comes to this art form. Glad to as always to see you.
Inky: I am so glad you stopped by to comment! Your work is now permanently displayed in the web as Hubpages stays in the search engines. I got an email from the writer in New Zealand and he feels you deserve this hub as you are very talented. Love you! :)
Marie, my son took his friend for a tatoo and after watching he came home with one too; offered to him at 1/2 price. My daughter asked for a belly piercing as a graduation gift. My response was I don't think so, what else do you want? She ended up treating herself to this gift. At this age, they're going to express themselves whether they have mom's approval or not. I've learned to pick my battles and this wasn't one I wanted to win! hehe!
This will age me, but I remember back when tatoos were the exception rather than the rule. Two of my four kids have tatoos and the youngest can't wait until she's 18 to get one. Along with the rest of the world, my views on tatooing have changed, they are a unique expression of art.
Dottie: Supporting your daughter is a good idea, they look cute anyway at that age with whatever fashion trends they pick. LOL.
Lafenty: Yes, if one looks closely tattoos are indeed art; wish Inky would paint on canvas. :)
I like the fairies, trees, birds...great artwork, compliments to your friend!
Thanks for stopping by Tatjana. I too like the faires, hard to select. :)
Thanks for sharing all the nice pics. Love the trees and fairies.
Hi, Melissa: Thank you for your comments, glad you enjoyed the pics.
Wow amazing artwork. :-) Hmmmm if I have to a tattoo, I would want a butterfly on my lower back LOL Although the fairy is my second favorite!
Inky, you are one talented lady! Keep up the great work! :-)
Hi, Michelle: Will pass on your comments to Inky, as I am sure she will appreciate them!. :)
so i am answerin a question that sumONE asked VioletONE....:)....he asked what the fairy on the moon means....there is no real meanin that i know of....tho...there may be sum i am not aware of...:).lol..he also asked what would go with his fairy on a moon...i think he said...compliment it...and my answer was.....no one can decide that but the One wearin it....lol....tattoos are yer soul comin out on yer skin....so i encourage my clients to go within and see what it is they need to express....and the One wearin these tattoos is the unifyin factor....as long as they are expressin the person....they go together....dont let an artist talk you into sumthin as sum have kinda big egos...lol....and will be happy to express THEMself instead of you..AND take yer money...lol...take yer time...i remind my clients that it is a drug....so sumtimes you are jus jonesin....lol.....i also say...dont get one till ya hafto....lol...when you finally figger out what it is to be...it will keep eatin at ya till ya have to get it....then...is the right time....take it slow...and really think about it....cuz ya gotta love it for a lifetime....sumtimes an event in life inspires one...i do many when a loved one passes...as is a good way to work thru that process.....so my looooong answer is...you will know what you are to get....when the time is right....no hurry....and thank you all again...for your lovely comments....i am honored.....love inkyONE....Namaste'...:D
Hi, Inky: Good to see you here! Makes sense that getting a tattoo has to come from a place within as the person recieving a tattoo will be living with it forever. Even if I don't have a tattoo, its interesting to have a better undestanding of the art, and you have been a good artist and teacher. :)
Your friend Inky is an excellent artist! These are beautiful tattoos. I would definitely let her do my next if she was in my area. I also love the quote by Leo. Tattoos are very personal, my tattoo has a very special meaning to me. :D
I have virgin skin, and will probably keep it that way. I do find these beautiful, especially the fairy.
Thanks Kari for stopping by! I just added her address at the beginning of the hub as it didn't occur to do this before. She is really sweet and very spiritually aware, so her custumers get the benefit of her talent in art and understanding, kindness and patience. :)
Randy: I also have virgin skin, and I agree the art is beautiful. I once asked Inky if she would consider painting in canvas but she enjoys working on people.

VS this is a great Hub and your friend is an awesome artist. If she was here, I would get a work done. Please tell her that her work has been seen and appreciated in a little place called New Zealand. Thank you for the opportunity to read this hub and see a great artist. Regards Pearldiver.
