Inspirational Messages To Be Guided By...

When I first joined HubPages a few weeks ago, little did I know how much faith-related material and inspirational messages there were to enjoy. Needless to say, I'm greatly encouraged by what I've read; not to mention the transparency of many fine authors publishing here.

Faith has always been part of my life. In honesty, however, it did not root into my everyday life until 5 or 6 years ago. The mystery and timing of this still amazes me. My journey toward a deeper and more integral faith life has been captivating, cleansing, and challenging. As G.K. Chesterton once said, "The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and left untried." Great quotes such as that should shine a light into all our hearts and demand a response. Our culture needs it!

In a world often gone insane with crime and injustice, there is hope for redemption and renewal through faith in God, His Son Jesus, and His ultimate plan for His creation. Daily reflection on this truth is essential in my life. Hopefully, this compilation of inspirational sayings, great quotes, and inspirational messages from people of faith through the ages can assist you in your walk; or better yet, help your heart take its first step toward faith.

"Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God"

Corrie Ten Bloom

Always knowing that our choices and actions have been filtered through the hands of God is affirmation enough to persevere. Even the bad things in our life have eternal consequence. This is a difficult and always present truth I must obey.

"If God were small enough to be understood, He would not be big enough to be worshipped"

Evelyn Underhill

God is too big for our finite minds to comprehend. Just imagine for a while every intricacy involved not only in our life but in everything (alive and not alive) around us. It all works as one. The mystery of life and creation is something God mandated from the garden by disallowing our ancestors from eating fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Some knowledge is meant to be hidden.

"A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word darkness on the wall of his cell"

C.S. Lewis

Even in our darkest moments, God is present. To refute God's existence is to refute being alive in His creation. Can you refute your existence?

"Fear not tomorrow, for God is already there"

Anonymous

The omnipresence of God is difficult to fathom. How can God be everywhere all the time the skeptic lauds? In order to grasp this truth, we must imagine ourselves existing outside of time. God made time just like He made everything else. Our reality is based in God's timing. God's reality is based in His creation set apart from time. Imagine for a minute a painter finishing his work but choosing to leave out a specific element for another painting. This is how I make sense of the existing out of time concept. God has made all things. He has chosen how each will be utilized at any given point in time.

"Blessings hemmed with praise will not unravel"

Anonymous

Giving thanks for everything in our life is worshipping God. Too often we don't see the everyday blessings all around us.

"God determines who walks into your life. It's up to you to decide who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go"

Anonymous

C.S. Lewis once said that the most holy thing around you is your neighbor. Adherence to this mindset would eliminate much of what we call chaos today.

"A single sunbeam is enough to drive away many shadows"

St. Francis of Assisi

A tribute to see the everyday blessings around us, God shines His light on all His creation.

"Faith seeks understanding. I do not seek to understand that I may believe, but I believe in order to understand"

St. Anselm of Canterbury

Sensitivity to understanding begins with faith. Without faith we have no desire to understand the things of God.

"The world sets the agenda for the professional man; God sets the agenda of the spiritual man"

John Piper

Choosing to become an apprentice of Jesus redirects your entire path through life. It is a difficult, but extremely rewarding journey that once embarked upon will challenge every decision you make. Fortunately, God has promised His helper the Spirit to guide us. We cannot do it alone, but we can do it together.

"The fear of God kills all other fears"

Hugh Black

"Fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge. Only Fools despise wisdom and discipline." Proverbs 1:7 (NLT)

I leave you with one of the most profound truths ever written. It comes from the mind and pen of the famous evangelist and author A.W. Tozer who stated as a prelude to his famous work "The Knowledge of the Holy".

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us."¹

1. A.W. Tozer, The Knowledge of the Holy. Harper San Francisco, 1961. P.1.

Rob,

I must laugh, because I just posted on Hub on financial quotes from Warren Buffett, this HUB however is far more inspiring to me. Thank you for inspiring me today!

Thank you for the post on my hub, btw. I am trying to balance finishing my book, (re-writing a lot of it, I should say), managing a website, and blogging, whew. Not much time left to read anything these days. The quotes led me here. Glad I stopped by. "We just added a quote section on my site, just an FYI, for later." Also, I really like to read about people who have such positive outlooks on life. Some think I'm strange because I have been through so much, and yet," I have hope." I try to explain to folks that it is more about having faith in a better tomorrow, than every understanding the past. It's what leads us to find a great moment, one that we can hold on to, in order to survive some of those not so pleasant moments in life. Good quotes,

I'll be back!

"A single sunbeam is enough to drive away many shadows" This is so true. Being a light unto others is a hand reaching in the dark. Lets share our love and keep the light shining! Great quotes.

This was my personal favorite:

"Faith seeks understanding. I do not seek to understand that I may believe, but I believe in order to understand"

St. Anselm of Canterbury

Sensitivity to understanding begins with faith. Without faith we have no desire to understand the things of God.

A word spoken well never grows old. Loved the quotes, and I am beginning to enjoy your hub. I, along, with Michelle, really appreciate the qoute by St Francis of Assisi, "A single sunbeam is enough to drive away many shadows." Thanks for sharing.
