Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but its sinking
And racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in the relative way, but you’re older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say
Home, home again, I like to be here when I can
And when I come home cold and tired
Its good to warm my bones beside the fire
Far away across the field, the tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells.

- Each of us is born with a personal bank account.
- It’s name is time.
- Every morning it credits you with 86,400 seconds.
- Every night it writes off as lost whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose.
- It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft.
- Each day it opens a new account for you.
- Each night it burns the remains of the day.

and a time for every matter under heaven
a time to be born and a time to die
a time to plant and a time to pluck up what is planted
a time to kill and a time to heal
a time to break down and a time to build up
a time to weep and a time to laugh
a time to mourn and a time to dance
a time to throw away stones and a time to gather stones together
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing
a time to seek and a time to lose
a time to keep and a time to throw away
a time to tear and a time to sew
a time to keep silence and a time to speak
a time to love and a time to hate

Thanks Erin, am so pleased you enjoyed them. I loved putting it together.
Reading this Hub and looking at the pictures has been a time well spent...Thank you, Russ, for filling Kipling's " unforgiving minute " with such inspiring and sagacious quotes...I liked yours very much...Time is indeed " inside ", well kept and warm, always a constant companion...Thanks, Larry
Thank you Larry, it's always a pleasure getting your comments. You really get it.
Wow, I think you hit every aspect of time! And the photos are also inspiring. I think I will have to return here again. Thanks!
Thank you. I feel there is so much to learn about making the most of it and as I grow older it hits home even more.
Great one, Russ. You really gave me a a good time, here! I am fascinated by the way different people experience and feel about time. I guess I have reached that age when time takes on a whole new significance that it didn't have when life seemed to stretch on in front of me for a very long time. Now that distance seems not so long, and I feel the need to really experience each moment fully, to appreciate it and love it.
Thanks for the timely Hub!
Love and peace
Tony
Howzit and thanks Tony.I'm reminded of some Dylan lyrics: "I never knew what I had, until I threw it all away".
He was talking about love but I guess it applies to time too especially as we get older and realise its significance.
What a wonderful mix of quotes and poetry! Talking of time always puts me in mind of my father who used to repair watches and clocks, and over the years had acquired a large number of his own. One day I asked him why, if he was a clock repairer, all the clocks in the house told different times. He laughed and said, well what would be the point in having all these clocks if they all told the same time!
Hi Amanda, great quote from your dad. Love it, it made me laugh out loud!
Hi Russ, I'm glad I visited your hubs today and saw you have many collection of quotes. Since it is way past my bedtime now, I'll come back tomorrow and link it to my hub: http://hubpages.com/hub/Largest-Collection-of-Quot
very inspirational quotes and the photos are worth a thousand words in themselves, I will have to agree the quote that unless you value yourself, you will not value your time. Until you value your time, you will not do anything with it. I could not said it better myself.
HI Ripplemaker, thanks, I'm still working on quotes and songs about Love. Should still take a few days. Already enjoying the quotes I am preparing.
Thanks RA. I think that's the connection to quotes - when you identify with someone else's values, sentiments, thoughts, etc., it's as if they have identified with yours.
Great stuff! just thought I would make a quick note to say how much I enjoyed this! I would say more but I do not have the time! (LOL)
Hi and thanks for dropping by. Glad you enjoyed it.

How thought provoking, and what a wonderful message about how we spend our time, and bringing happiness to our loves. I love the concept which you have put together so nicely Russ. Inspirational quotes are my all time favorite, but the way you broke these down, and putting them with pictures was just over the top and truly fantastic. I loved this hub!
