In this unstable and unlikely life we call writing, the days filled with rejection are many and joyous news has to be stretched out a long ways. For me, part two is answering some of the moments when I, as a writer, need to hear some good advice--like that my dreams are bold and beautiful because they are bold, that the power to succeed rests in my own hands, not the hands of an agent or publisher, and that if I just keep truckin', I'll succeed.

Writing loves US. Did you know that? I didn't! Writing wants to be written. First, though we must be willing to LISTEN. We do not control the writing--the writing controls us. It moves us, frees us, becomes us. We have to be ready to hand the reigns over to it, though. Our job is to PAY ATTENTION and write what we HEAR.
