Inspiring One Another

" You need to be aware of what others are doing, applaud their efforts, acknowledge their successes, and encourage them in their pursuits. When we all help one another, everybody wins."
Jim Stovall

Today, I updated my Facebook profile and as I wrote the words: "I love to uplift and inspire others to be the best they can be. It’s a learning experience, as we all are connected; we are students and teachers for one another." I had no idea I was going to write these few words, but as I did, I felt my heart expand because this is genuinely my calling, it's done without any effort, as its a natural expression of who I am. I love to see others progress, especially if I know them personally or have an online friendship with them.

Living in a world of duality, where we experience joy and sorrow; success and failure; hot and cold; birth and death, many give up on their dreams, and stay stuck in a negative polarity. They fail to acknowledge that in a universe guided by an Infinite Intelligence, (God) there is plenty of opportunity for us to transcend our suffering or limited way of using our minds, and opening to the field of infinite possibilities.

I have been emailing with a life long friend of mine, Linda, who has a natural aptitude to turn dull spaces in a home into a work of art, which literally takes one's breath away. Everyone is always seeking her advice, including yours truly. She is now a baby boomer who recently retired early from the corporate world and has been looking into earning an extra source of income.

As we corresponded back and forth, I asked her, why not try working in interior decorating? I could visualize the excitement in her eyes in thinking of working at something she loves to do. She would need training so she gains confidence in dealing with clients, and know what to expect and how to respond.

She can build her business by word of mouth, starting with family, friends and acquaintances. The reason, I recommended she to do business this way, is because when it comes to service, word of mouth is often the best advertisement, even if it may build up slowly. She is not looking to depend on this for a living, but to use it as an extra source of income and a way to express her passion. Yet, who knows what achievements can happen should she decide to open this door in her life.

Whether she decides to take this step in her life, or not, I support her decision. One thing I am sure of, if she ever becomes an interior decorator, whomever has the fortune of hiring her, will see a space that reflects beauty.

As I have watched her enthusiasm, felt her passion for interior decorating, and her understandable fear of starting something new at her age, I took a look at myself, and realized, that I have accomplished a few of my goals, such as attracting a healthy relationship, being co-owner of an online business, and generally experiencing inner peace, but I am not done yet. I am not surprised, because its the nature of life, to give birth to new experiences, to challenge ourselves in order to stretch our boundaries; this is what keeps us moving and growing both in mind and spirit.

I made the decision today to do the spiritual counseling I have been considering in starting again, with a different approach I used in the past; I will add self empowerment counseling in the mix, and continue to use my intuitive abilities to provide guidance and clarity.

I can see the perfection of how life flows; while most seek my friend's advice in decorating, I am often sought for information and guidance by family, friends and acquaintances. By helping Linda with ideas, she in turn became my inspiration in also following my own "advice" and doing the work to pursue what I love to do.

We are indeed all students and teachers for one another, when we help another in such a way where we are not giving our power away, (as in co-dependent relationships), or taking the power away from the other, the potential for something beautiful to blossom in both the giver and receiver can happen; it can be walking away with more wisdom or an open heart.

I leave you with these sage words:

"In helping others, we shall help ourselves,
for whatever good we give out completes the circle
and comes back to us."
Flora Edwards

Wherever your path may lead, may it be a joyful circle, where you never forget to follow your dreams.

What a wonderful hub and a wonderful sentiment! I am so glad you are going to pursue your spiritual counseling plans. I know you will be wonderful at it. What a different world this would be if we all tried to see and bring out the best in each other instead of arguing, tearing each other down, and trying to 'win'. I've been much more drawn to spiritual topics lately. I feel I need to be connected to something positive and useful! Thanks Marie! And good luck!

Hi Marie! I could almost feel the innocence, purity and positive vibes coming through your words. I can see that the energy in you has started flowing again after a long time. Keep it moving now and (trust me)that will surely become a 'life force' for many people who need your spiritual counseling. Who knows...I might be one of those needy ones. You never know! :)

Ah amiga mia, wonderful and inspirational. It takes insight to realize that giving is generous and helps us and whoever we give to, AND receiving is just the other side of the same coin. In order to give, someone must receive. Sometimes it is ourselves who need to receive and we grow with it, spiritually at any rate. Besos!

Lyricsingray and Sharon: Great to read I have inspired you both, it means the intention of this article is working. Thanks for your comments. :)

Paraglider:Good to see you here, haven't seen you around lately in hubpages. What many do not undestand is our interconnectedness can be an empowering resource, but that will be for another hub. LOL.

Jackwms: Thanks for reading, and you can find me at http://www.facebook.com/home.php?filter=app_230986 feel free to add me as your friend, and anyone else who want to add me. :)

Receptionist: I also believe in ehe law of karma, its such a natural law by whatever name we call it. Will peek at your hubs.

Anajali: You made my eyes get wet, because you sensed me very well; its so humbling to connect to others like you who understand. Its amazing how the energy has been flowing; have been dabbling in Tai Chi, doing energy work with the chakras, fasting, (yes all at the same) and something has shifted energy wise. Thanks for your presence!

Elena: I so agree, we need to give to ourselves, actually, we need to love ourselves FIRST, so we can then give (or not give) from a place of wholeness. Besitos to you!

You are such a breath of fresh air. Thank you for this great read. Sounds like you have a blessed gift to share with others.

If I may share a short story:

A few months ago, after my husband underwent a 7 hour cancer removal surgery, we were taking our daily walk up and down the hospital corridors when another patient (whom we passed in the hallway a few times) stopped him and said "I was ready to go back to my room but seeing you do all this walking inspired me to do a few more laps".

I must say, caring for my husband over this past year has definitely inspired me in so many ways. His upbeat attitude, silly personality, and work-with-what-you-got way of thinking is so great. I hope I can learn from him and encourage and inspire others in some way.

He is now in remission. If he goes four more years cancer free, he'll be considered cured. Come on 4 years!

VioletSun profile image

VioletSun  says:

Lewgard: Your sharing brought tears to my eyes, wow, I love to read stories like this. Your husband is indeed a wonderful inspiration, and with his positive attitude, the chances are great that he will stay remission free!

I encourage you and your hubby to read, Evolve Your Brain- Change Your Mind" by Dr. Joe Dispenza. This book is what puts the scientific foundation into why positive thinking or a positive attitude works; the brain responds to our thoughts and sends chemicals to the body- he shares on how patients healed themselves spontaneously and gives the 4 common traits in each one. He has a video based on the book, and his talks are very clear and not dry.

Thanks for adding your comments!

It feels right to be back doing counseling but took an almost three year break as I worked (and continue working) on my own inner changes, healing, and focusing most of my energy in helping my sister cope with the passing of her boy. The time is right to re-enter counseling.

Lot of love, light and hugs.

Hi, Createapage: Yes, we are all students and teachers, even a baby can teach us, the critters in nature can also be our teachers, we just need to be observant and life becomes fuller as we are in constant connection with everything. Thanks for your comments!

A biblical proverb states: One person shapes another person like the metal shapes metal. Everyone influences everyone he comes across in one manner or another. We are going to be held responsible for influencing people in a healthy, uplifting manner or in a degrading, condenming manner. You're on the right side of the fence of influencing people to become better and kinder to others. Keep up the good work. God bless you. TToni9/Pauline
