Installing Wordpress

Today, it is a lot easier to install wordpress than it was a year ago at least. Before you used to have to edit a file before you could even install wordpress. That itself, they have improved on dramatically. That is something I remember when I first starting installing my own wordpress install.  Here I am going to explain how to install it, but I am not going to give you the easy way as I feel the easy way is not always the best way.

Step 1: Upload wordpress to your server.

You need some sort of ftp client so that you can load up wordpress. I would suggest ftp core as it is a very lightweight ftp client. Before using it though it needs to be able to connect to your site. You should be able to put your ftp information like ip area should be something like ftp.yourwebaddressname. No http will need to be included in that. Password and username should be whatever it is that you use to log into your cpanel.

Step 2: Setup your Database

If you are using cpanel for your website, there is a section in there called my sql database. That is where you need to go to create your database. You need to create a database, but you also need to create a username to it also. Go ahead and do both now.

Step 3: Installing Wordpress

By now, everything should be loaded up to your site. Now its time to install wordpress. Go to the webaddress that you had loaded up your wordpress files up to and follow the instructions on the screen. I believe there is only a couple steps when it comes to installing it. It will be asking for host and most servers it is localhost. Then it will be asking for you database name, username and password. Those are the ones you used when you just created your database and username. If you are using cpanel its usually your cpanel username plus whatever your username or database is. So if you log into cpanel as johnie and the database name is wp then you would probably put in johnie_wp for the database name. and for username you used johnie also it would be johnie_johnie.
