Instruction for living
49To ignore this is like telling me I look great in this shirt.
Instructions-Commandments-Living
Before you read this. how many of the 10 commandments do you know?
See results without votingThings to live by that never get old.
I am writing this because I see an awful lot of talk about the difference between the "10 Commandments" and the "Other Commandments" (603 of them).
So I am going to ask a few simple questions of any believer in THE MESSIAH (The Christ).
***NOTE: The "substantial portion" in this hub that appears on the web elsewhere are just bible verses and I did not steal anything.***
Can you please read these over and tell me which one is not held up in the New Testament for a believer in Yahshua (Jesus)???
See if Paul, Peter, James or John taught other wise.
Find one that you want to toss out and think of as no good.
- Can you see any you did not know about and are happy to know now?
Check one that would make you worse off for doing or believing.
How many are done in this country by believers to this day.
- Do you think that any society would do well to follow these instructions?
- Is it not obvious that many non believers follow these instructions?
- If you found a person that ignored them, would you not feel outrage?
- How many of these do you know? And how many of the 10 do you know?
None of these have to do with eating or drinking the unclean things, or sacrifices, or washing your self, or Rabbinical laws, or praying so many times a day, or-or-or. These are just things to live by, that I have been told by others are "COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY FOR THOSE UNDER GRACE." They just want to toss out all the commandments except the 10 that GOD wrote by HIS own finger. The rest HE told Moses to write down. GOD did indeed give them all though.
I have just found that people go on and on about how we are under grace and have no need to follow and instructions from GOD except those first 10. But nobody really ever reads them before they say toss them in the trash.
Strange that "spell check" does not let you type the word "torah" without it being CAPITALIZED. Even spell check respects her.
So read these and if you are under grace and feel no need for these in your life, then disobey them and teach others to do so on the spot and see if you do not have total ...ANARCHY!!!
One commandment we never violate is not even in the 10 or the other books so to speak, it is found in Geneses. 1:28 "be fruitful and multiply"...now we always are willing to do that. I bet ya did not know that this is the very 1st commandment given.
I can't imagine a mans wife saying to him "COME ON HONEY, LET'S BE FRUITFUL AND MULTIPLY!!!"...RIGHT NOW TOO!!! And the man saying "no, that's OK, I gotta see the game" Men like this kind of math, multiplication!!!

The Levitical laws were meant for the Hebrews. They provide the basis for a society. However, living under grace does not mean we should forget morals and right living. You provide an interesting point of view.
So much love and wisdom my brother. Great hub.
thefount: Amen brother amen!!! Not here to put a yoke on anyone. It's just plain old good living. Or new good living???
This why I said if you go out and break them, you will have massive anarchy all over the place. Every man doing that which is right in his own eyes. Something we are not far from today in my opinion.
I do them because they are right in GODS own eyes.
Shalom
Smireles: Thanks for the feed back, glad you thought it worthy of a comment to. I tried to bring an interesting perspective as I have BOTH a Jewish and Christian back ground in the last 30 years (I am 47). So I am not exactly a novice in the understanding, but I can fill a medium sized thimble.
Just a slight, real slight addition to your remark "The Leviticus laws were meant for the Hebrews."
Lev. is only part of the Torah and if you look at the scripture references noted, these are taken from Gen. Ex. Lev. Num. and Duet. So the whole of the Torah is all 5 books. I did get what you meant though.
One commandment we never violate is not even in the 10 or the other books so to speak, it is found in Geneses. 1:28 "be fruitful and multiply"...now we always are willing to do that. I bet ya did not know that this is the very 1st commandment given.

And the man saying "no, that's OK, I gotta see the game"
Men like this kind of math, multiplication!!!

Well there ya go! Clear as a bell, it is! No wonder (collectively speaking) this country is in such a mess! You don't have to read very far to understand the ways of GOD are good - and to ignore those ways, well welcome to America!!
Thanks for posting this insightful Hub!
Yup Cathy...it's pretty simple and straight to me sister!!!

"So much love and wisdom my brother. Great hub."
Well thank you for seeing clearly. It is out of HIS love and HIS wisdom that I wrote this hub. To many run around and shout "WE ARE UNDER GRACE, I DO NOT HAVE TO OBEY ANY LAWS AND IF I DO, I WILL CHOOSE THEM, SO LET ME BE AND BUTT OUT OF MY BUSINESS"...in so many words they do this and I hear it far to often.
HE is HIS matchless love gave the Torah instructions to show us how we need to live honorably in HIS sight. If we are given grace, it is because of our shortcomings in trying to obey HIM and grace is not to be taken lightly, but instead to call upon it when we fail.
Remember that the Torah is called holy, just and good and that is spiritual in nature. If it is spiritual, I desire to be spiritual and follow.
We need the covering of HIS blood because we cannot obey 100% HIS commandments, so HE stooped down to help us in grace until we can obey HIS words. If Torah was to be rejected, Messiah would have done so.
Strange that spell check does not let you type the word "torah" without it being CAPITALIZED. Even spell check respects her.

I live by the 10 commandments. I live, eat, sleep, breathe the Lord.7 days a week. There are two very important commandmentsones to me though that cannot be matched. First is to love the Lord your God with all that is in you. When you are able to do that you are able to better obey Him and not fall into traps.
quientness, you can flap and flap your lips, and talk about many things and think you are doing many great things for Him. Yes to put your faith, hope, trust, and love, into Him are good things to do, but the most
important thing is love. Love is the most important thing and the Lord has a message to you through this beautiful poem written by the guiding light ministry:
LOVE
Love is faithful. Love is kind. It can get you through all your pain and sorrow. Love outlasts the test of time. Love is loyal. Love is blind. Love's eyes do not envy. Love sees the worth of you and me. Love is the essence of courage. Love brings peace. A new hope to carry on. Love takes a stand on all that is wrong. Love will never let go. Love never gives in, and it will build you up when you've convinced yourself that you can't ever win. Love is God sending His Son. Love has always been there, even before you were created. True love has won. Love never scoffs. Love will never fold. Love is the conqueror, and love will be there when you have to be bold. Love is never jealous. Love is the name of the Savior who died on a cross for us. Patient and enduring, love is pure. Love has a place for every wounded soldier, of that I am sure. Know this somehow, that in a place far away from now, all God's children will one day meet. When this life is over we will stand with Him not knowing defeat. Love is a gentle hand reaching out to you and me with a nail pierced scar. So don't forget that it was Jesus Christ that got you this far. Just look at his nail-afflicted wound. Love overcame death as He rose again from that cold, dark tomb. In another world away, all dreams come to flight. We will forever be reigning with Jesus, full of His Power and Might.
I don't believe in having to be under the law either Q&T. But we are free to disagree. As long as we are both truly born again we are brothers and need to love and pray for each other. There will always be differences in different groups of people and how they see the Word but the basics are the same. the basics of salvation. the thing that makes us family. We are to give our lives for the brethren even if there are differences. We are family. I for one will love my brothers. Some I will have an affinity for more than others but they will all, every one that's saved, be family.
Casi and No Body:
Where did I ever say "I am 'under' the law???"
Please quote it for me.
I did say it was good, holy and just and it is spiritual.
Shalom
My mistake, I'm sorry. It must have been a word or two I missed. Sometimes I do that.
Cool, I am glad we are on the same page about that.

I believe that even though we live in the New Testament era, we still need to know what the whole bible says. Thank you for all your hard work here.
