Step 2: Prep and paint your room if nessesary,Once this has finished drying have your carpet Installed.

Step 3: If you are re instating furniture back in to the room now is the time to do so, Otherwise time to constuct that piece youvé brought TIP: Before you rush out and replace a bed give it the once over Can it be painted, stained, modified or Upholstered to give it a new lease on life?.

with out a photo to see your brightish yellow its a little hard to guide you but i will do my best.

this combination may seem daunting but alas help is at hand, take your inspiration from mother nature herself a sunflower or a feild of wheat are a good place to start. A sunflower wallpaper feature wall contained in a border of dark wood would be a good focal point, One wall in yellow and your trims a chocolate brown alternitavely a whole buttercup yellow room with white trims can be very effective the woods just pop out! i preffer the latter with a sisal carpet or rug to represent the wheat side to add warmth and texture hope this helps, lachlan

FOR SANDY, "Bauhaus" the term for Staatliches Bauhaus an art and architecture school in germany from 1919-33 and for a short time in the U.S 1937-38.

Criticaly acclaimed and an influential movement in the modernist style.

hi, awsome page You know how you wrote 'This set of one single doona, pillow case, euro ,and cusion or neckroll $380.00' does that mean that the purple and green and also the pink and yellow bed cover set is that much?

stemjewellery  says:

MY OWN LOUNGE Style: Eclectic

These are pictures of my own loung room showing a very eclectic mix of furniture not only in colour but also in style.

Yet somehow the feel is calm and relaxed creating an atmosphere of east meets west with old world charm thrown in to the mix thanks to antiques.

The size of furniture in this room was most important, anything too big would only make the space seem smaller so only a 2.5 seat blue club lounge and a pair of scaled down wing chairs were sufficient seatting arranged in a "Conversation" placement around an indian prayer seat masqerading as a coffee table "Anchored" and Set upon a wool rug to tie the colours together.

Two large framed prints lit over head Anchor this arrangement to the wall and give it purpose in the room flanked by side chests and lamps that complement the club lounge help bring the look toghether.

Hallway & Landing

A 1930s home which had a very drab hallway was given the once over in one afternoon.

Small spaces are very quick to do especialy if you have preped right before hand (sanding etc;)

TIP: If you are scared to experiment with colour chose a base colour then a colour 3 shades lighter or darker for your trims from the same range or from the opposite side of the colour wheel

Hanging & Displaying Pictures

Hanging & displaying pictures around your home can be a very daunting task for many.

With a few tips to guide you on your way you will be haning pictures like a pro in no time at all!.

lets start with FIXTURES you will find many different ways to hang your pictures from walls in various forms, There is a picture of the most common types of fixtures bellow.

Obviously the heavier the load the larger the support, Gather together a hammer , level , tape measure and any screw drivers or drills that you might need.

Lay your pictures out on the floor in front of you and arrange them according to shape , size ,colour, style etc.

Now is the time to think about LIGHTING there are more choices than you might think the most common is Spotlighting, Bar lighting and now days the more modern adjustable down lights.

Also Consider the decor of the room to acheive a maximum mood effect with your other lighting

EG 1: An aisian room with dark wood trim with warm mocha colour walls and a variety of dense textures and clean lines dictate that the over head lighting be DIM and look ''light" with asian scrolls hung on the walls in alcoves that are SPOTLIGHTED from above and aimed at the centre of the sides of the alcove so the light forms a reflective effect around the art.

EG 2: An English inspired room with layer apon layer of heritage texture and exuberence, dictates a differnt story over head lighting is by way of elegant chandeliers or pendant lights or if money is no problem lavish cornice lighting can be installed, Otherwise only dim wattage lamps are dé rigúer. Pictures are commonly lit in two ways one from the bottom with the light eminating up or from the top with the light casting downward.

Now to hang your pictures, A grouping of pictures be it the same or different needs an "outer limmit". this is the shape your pictures will fit inside of on your wall.

Try to tell a story with your pictures as this is far more interesting than a group of unrelated products,a story can be many things the frames all the same or a unified shape or colour the same mounts or theme in the pictures.

Pictures don't have to be hung on walls either!!! Think out side the square and get creative one simple photo in a glass jar on the coffee table can be very cute especialy when the jar is filled with jelly beans.

Create a still life with your pictures by placing the picture/s somewhere and incorporate various objects that relate to the picture.

Long halways look great as a gallery space! dont forget to unify them in some way shape or form.

Landings dictate a mirror not only to enlarge the space it helps bring extra light to the area and by anchoring it above a peir table you will have acheived a classic look and don't forget to check yourself out on the way down!!

HOT TIP: Do not ever! choose the most domminant colour from a picture or rug to paint your room with remember subtle is best and choose one of the more lighter coulours even if it is only tiny you'd be supprised at how that colour then pops out !

PRIVACY IN AN INSTANT!!

Do you have a window in your house that dosn't give you the privacy you require?.

This bathroom window faced a public access way and offered little but a blind for cover and when closed let no light into the room.

Soulution...1 tin of White Knight clear window frosting around $15.00 a can.

I used a whole can for this window, an hour later a light filled and private space without the heafty expence of a glazier!!!!

CORBELS

Here you will find the steps to guide yourself to installing corbels although these are not supporting a heavy load for eg an arch they are for decorative effect to add to the formal flair

TIP: IF YOU ARE INSTALLING CORBELLS IN A PERIOD HOUSE AN ARCH IS MOST IMPORTANT! HERE THE CELING HEIGHT IS MINIMAL THERE FOR A MOCK SUPPORT BEAM WAS ADDED TO ACHEIVE THE SAME EFFECT WITH OUT CLOSING IN THE SPACE.

I my corbels at a local market for $10.00 otherwise your local plaster suppler in the yellow pages will help you.

Step 1; Mark & cut cornice remove excess plaster then add beam

CUT & REMOVE PLASTER THEN ADD BEAM
CUT & REMOVE PLASTER THEN ADD BEAM

HIDE THOSE CURTAIN TOPS !!

Before you rush out and spend thousands on pelmets for your windows check first to see if they can have a hard pelmet installed in to the recces around the edge of the window

STEP 1, Here i have used tounge and groove floor board @ $1.88 PLM (per linear metre) Each pelmet has been measured and cut to fit.

Step 2; Add liquid nails or powder mastic to corbels and place in possition

Support well, Powder mastic will dry in around 1/2 hour depending on the weather (clean off excess mastic with a damp sponge and to smooth edges)
Support well, Powder mastic will dry in around 1/2 hour depending on the weather (clean off excess mastic with a damp sponge and to smooth edges)

Add plaster filler and sand down to a smooth finish add embelishment and paint

Paint as required to suit your decor

Step 1

Step 2

Now that you have tacked/Hammered your board in place mix up a batch of spak filla (plaster) mix and fill the holes around the edges this will have to be done once more after it has dried due to shrinkage making shure to sand in between each fill

Step 2

Step 3

SAND TO PERFECTION

Now that your filla has dried sand it to perfection and paint your desired colour (mount any decals before you paint)

A little hard work, and for about $2.50 au per window you can't go wrong!
