International Cricket at the Wanderers - Johannesburg, South Africa "You are anxious before every game because you had to win it. If you didn't you went down the ladder. I felt proud of the way we beat some teams in tough games." - Sourav Ganguly

I recently went to my second one day international cricket match at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. This time however, I was fortunate enough to be offered two tickets to a box of the company I work at. This box is located at a very good position in the stadium. Top floor and right across from the scoreboard. The view from this box was absolutely stunning.

We arrived just after the match started due to the large volumes of incoming traffic (to the stadium parking area). It took us about an hour to drive 2km! To enter the stadium however, was really quick as the security officers and gate officials probably understood the haste in which late comers arrive.

First we had a long walk to find the stairs we needed to take up to the box, which left us breathless. Unfortunately, as we reached the top, the elevator opened its doors for us at the bottom.

While sitting in the box, I realised that the crowd below may have all the raw atmosphere, dancers and peanuts, but that they also have nature to contend with. I was cosy in the box with a bowl of chocolates and waiting for dinner while the match played out in front of me.

Note: For those that have never been in a box - it is a VIP seat in a pvt room. You get served drinks, snacks and a meal - all on the sponsoring company's expense.

The match was part of the T20 World Series and it was Sri Lanka vs India. Now, India had really good bowlers - but the Sri Lankans hit fours and sixes at an alarming rate. When India went in to bat, they really started catching up to the score, but with some luck and lots of skill, the Sri Lankans walked away as winners of the match.

...and I went home thinking that I LOVE CRICKET - just not the traffic to the venue!

"The first thing is to be patient, which is probably the hardest thing to do. Don't worry if blokes are whacking you out of the park because you still have the opportunity to get him out next ball, even if it's not the same ball. "- Shane Warne
