Internet Marketing: Little Victories
67Internet Marketing Confusion
When you enter the world of Internet Marketing, you can feel a wide variety of mixed emotions, especially at first. For instance, you can feel lost and rudderless. You can feel overwhelmed and in need of answers. One thing seems clear: Every Internet Marketer has stories to tell, and everyone involved in Internet Marketing follows their own path, piecing together their knowledge by reading different blogs and articles on the subject and/or by hiring a “guru” to coach them privately, and/or by signing up for courses about it. Many people end up doing a mix of some or all of the above.
What most people end up discovering at some point in their journey (or even at multiple points) is that Internet Marketing can be a rough road to travel. There can be setbacks and pitfalls, and it can be very slow going at times as you work on building your home business by setting up niche sites and writing article after article for ad revenue sharing sites like HubPages, eHow, Infobarrel and others.

Playing the Infamous Numbers Game
Many experienced Internet Marketers are constantly reminding Internet Marketing “newbies” that it really comes down to numbers. In other words, how many websites you set up, how many posts/articles you place on those websites (using SEO and well thought out keywords), how many articles you publish on the ad revenue sharing sites, etc. will all benefit you in the end. More specifically, the more content you write (or outsource to freelance writers for them to write), the more earning potential you have as an Internet Marketer.
And because it can take a rather substantial amount of time, energy and output to get enough content online to make a difference to their bottom line, a lot of people find themselves tempted to give up on the whole project before they have given themselves enough time to succeed. As is true with any business, there will be good days and bad days, which is why a lot of veteran Internet Marketers urge newer marketers not to check certain statistics (such as their Google Adsense earnings) every single day.
Enduring Fluctuations in Online Earnings
Given the fact that Internet Marketing earnings can fluctuate rather wildly from day to day, you can find yourself taking quite the emotional roller coaster ride each time you check your earning stats. And that is definitely not good for your morale as a writer or as a business person. Consider checking such statistics only once a week or once every two weeks or even once a month rather than every day. That way, you will likely see a gradual increase over time, provided you continue to post new, original content (and add backlinks to that content) on a regular basis.
Watching your earnings trend slowly but steadily upward can be very rewarding indeed, and it is these little victories in Internet Marketing that you will want to celebrate, because they will give you the mental and emotional fortitude you need to keep investing your time and/or money by continuing to write (and/or outsource the writing of) fresh online content that is original, helpful to readers, and Search Engine Optimized.
