"Do you have it?"

It seems that today everyone sees Internet Marketing as an easy way through which they can create a page online and start collecting the money... While Internet marketers do offer safe plans for reaching success, few people really DO something.

People are lazy and want the "easy instant way to riches" and on the other hand marketers monetize on that by offering more "instant ways to riches..."

At the very end success becomes a personal matter so you either have the talent or not. If not then you need to cultivate that talent. That takes time and requires discipline.

Below you can find what I call: the 4 elements of success...

If you meet them all then you DO have the right basis for reaching success online.

First of all: Be patient

You cannot make a living on the Net in some days, some months, or even within a year or two. You will be able to earn some good money in a year if you follow the right steps, but you must work hard for at least 2-3 years before quitting your morning job. Work hard, make the right moves, and you can enjoy the luxury of working from home (I assure you it's a good feeling!)

Pay attention: you can earn money on the Net quickly; there are ways to do this. For example, if you promote a product that sells well, you can make $1000-$1500 within 2-4 weeks. But what I'm saying is that you cannot create a stable online business, a living on the Net, overnight.

There are also ways to save time; actually, to "win" time, by getting the knowledge you need through other people's brains. You may need to consider joining a mentoring program or an online community that supports your dreams.

Second: Be focused

You cannot earn a living with a webpage that offers everything...

Keep it simple. Offer 1 product/service at a time. It can be a collection of homogenous products; that's OK. It can be your product or a product you promote as an affiliate. That's OK too. But it must be 1 product at a time. There is much work to be done in selling just 1 product, believe me. So FOCUS on 1 product and sell it.

Third: Be pro-active

Do not just wait for the opportunity to come. INITIATE that opportunity. Keep yourself BUSY. Run a newsletter, an ezine, or keep a simple mailing list. The purpose of your website must be either a) to get the sale or b) to get a subscriber. That's it. Period. Nothing else. Research shows that people don't buy when visiting your site the first time - unless your product is what they were looking for. Even in that case, you still must set-up a mechanism because, in case you don't get the order, you'll still get a subscriber for your newsletter or mailing list. That's why you need autoresponders and pop-up windows. If your visitor doesn't order, the pop-up window opens, your free offer is displayed, and your visitor fills in a form. There are still tons of free ebooks and software on the Net. Create a collection related to your subject and offer it as a bonus to your subscribers upon registration. Your autoresponder will get the message, add the visitor to your subscriber list, and send your free bonuses automatically. You can create a series of follow-up messages to inform your new subscribers about your product, leading to a sale, or you can run your newsletter and try to get the sale through special offers, ads, or links included inside your newsletter.

Fourth: Be responsible and consistent to your vision.

You cannot start with 10,000 susbcribers and if you ever bought a list with leads for that reason then you wasted your money... Big mistake indeed.

Be responsible and consistent to your "daily obligations." Be consistent to your dreams. Do what you have to do with the belief that you have ALREADY created an online business. In fact, you HAVE DONE it. You're running a mailing list, you're keeping in contact with your subscribers; 7, 17, or 700 - it doesn't matter. Keep on going. You must prove to yourself and to others that you deserve to be trusted. You must give REASONS to people to believe what you say. Be responsible and consistent to your subscribers, to yourself, and to your dream.

So next time before asking yourself why others make money online and you're not, be sure that your character meets all the elements above. If not, work on them.

Yup, patience, focus and action would be very much the basics of internet marketing especially in affiliate marketing where people tend to fail the very first rule so often.

Focus is obviously the easiest rule to break when it comes to the "online" part of marketing.

And yes ... the action. Many people are truly willing to take action, but they're headed in the wrong direction from the beginning. So I would take a step (or two) back and start it all over again. :)
