How the Internet is Profiting Me

My journey looking for opportunities
So it seems I am not the only one, people looking to make money online are everywhere and we all have the same questions. Is it possible? And How is it done?
My first adventure was writing an ebook. My first ebook did manage to sell and cover its advertising costs and help make up for the losses on my next ebook. Wow did that lose me money! Sheesh! It was a chance to learn that losing money is a great indicator that you are wasting your time (I would probably still be tweaking and sending out emails and everything else if I just broke even or only lost a little bit)
I also work at a local school so most of what I do has to be fit in around 2 part time jobs (not to many hours but broken up over the day so that my day is a weird one). I am the schools lollypop lady (crossing patroler) and a lunch time supervisor so lots of fun but not much money.
I was recently told that I could make money online with blogging by my mother in law. I set up a blog and went to register with online sites for people looking to get paid for blogging. There are loads of sites out there and I am signed up to a few tho I have yet to find a job I can do with them. The sites that looked the most promising require my blog to be much older then it is so in the mean time I have been focusing on generating traffic and adsence.
Yesterday I found this site and am really enjoying it, so I do hope that there are people here who click those ads meaning I can make money while doing something as fun as contributing to this amazing community.
I would love to hear what other peoples experiences so far have been so please comment!
Thanks Kirsten

I have just realized that some of the links I am currently using to expose my hubs across the internet might be helpful for anyone interested in reading this hub so here they are

I do not really understand pinging but I have been told many times that its a good way of increasing exposure to your web site and have used them to ping every new hub and my blog

Already I have had one comment suggesting sites that can help increase traffic and hope that if you have more suggestions for good sites to increase traffic you include it in a comment thanks!
Profit!!!!!!!
Break out the bubbly guys, I have made my first £0.18 with adsense!!!!!!
I have today decided to play with my tags and see if that helps make pounds not pence!
With what I have seen people say here in the forums and in comments on this and other pages coupled with my £0.18 it seems that it is possible to earn an income here, it definitely feels promising and makes it easier to be patient and keep plugging away at it :D

Small world! I dated a girl near Utica and attended Plattsburgh State for a while! I grew up in Westchester, NY and just moved from the Hudson Valley (Marist, Culinary Institute of America, Vassar area).
Thanks for your comment dohn121!
Its really cool that you are beginning to see some earnings with adsense as this site is very addictive and loads of fun so adding new content should be automatic. I do hope that your comment will encourage and inspire any visitors who read this hub! :D
Nice hub! And quite informative. Thanks!
Maybe it's not a correct question, but I'll ask. You wrote " I set up a blog and went to register with online sites for people looking to get paid for blogging. There are loads of sites out there and I am signed up to a few tho I have yet to find a job I can do with them". Frankly speaking, I'm a beginner in the sphere of blogging and I'm very interested in these sites, if it's not very difficult for you - can you give me some URLs of such sites.
Gennifer I am more then happy to give you a few links to check out,
http://www.doshdosh.com/a-definitive-list-of-paid-
this is probably the best place to start as it lists the paid blogging sites out there and comments on how good/bad they are and I think get updated from time to time. On here the first site they list as #1 is payperpost and it does look good to me. Probably because they have not approved me yet (my blog wasn't big enough or old enough)
There was another one I found (saw it on a tv show of all places) that sounded interesting if you like music and writing reviews and making a contribution to the music biz,
tho I found it took forever to earn the first 5£ and that needs to be re-invested in one of the bands, could be that thats the real way to make money. Find a good band and invest your earning with them, also every 10 reviews gets a tip so you can choose a band to 'tip' and i think those are worth like 5£ as well so could be a better way to invest in bands. you will have to go check it out for yourself to see if its for you and if you get the same impression :)
hope this was of help to you and I wish you all the best with this internet stuff, wouldn't it be great if it works for us?
thanks you for this information and for a fun mail that you left on my page. I hope that we both will see the results in the near future. ;)
Just thought I would take a second to share that my earnings have gone up past the £1.00 marker lol. There is still a lot to learn but I am seeing signs that I can grow my earnings to something of note over time, more quickly if I remember to cover the bases with choosing keywords of reasonable value and traffic!
Does pinging help?
Well today I woke up and my most popular hub page (has the highest ranking number of them all) had a little error thingy saying that its traffic was dropping. I re-pinged it, messed with the tags, and tweeted it. The error went away and the ranking number actually went up so I think a combination of all 3 fixed the problem
With this in mind I would like to suggest that any time you publish a new hub page you take 10 mins or so to promote it through twitter, ping service sites, and if you have a blog post it there too! Also I would suggest creating a text file with all the URL's for your hub pages, this should save you loads of time when manually submitting each one to a site that provides a service like pinging.

You came to the right place, kirstengblog! I've had some success (I've been here 3 weeks and have made almost $5 from Adsense). Keep on writing hubs and try writing hubs with the most original content as possibly. I'll try to help you if you want, but keep in mind that I'm learning myself.
Some other places to post your hubs are the following: Squidoo, Facebook, Digg, and Twitter. Expanding your empire will only bring you more hub views.
Keep on writing and follow the Golden Rule: Give and You Will Receive!
