File sharing

A computer file can be shared by several people over the Internet. It can be loaded on a Web server or made available on an FTP server, featuring a single local source for the content.

It may also be shared on a P2P network. In this case the access is controlled by authentication, and once available, the file is distributed over multiple machines, providing multiple sources for the same file. Even if the original author of the file no longer available, others on the network that already obtained the file can provide. From the moment that the media is published, you lose control over it. The file sharing through P2P networks are decentralized and the constant target of criticism due to its use as a means of piracy, originally with the famous Napster case. Such networks have just evolved over time to greater decentralization, which means more dark in relation to content that is traveling.

Transmission of multimedia

Several television channels offered on the Internet transmission of audio and video in real time. Other technologies like the podcast allows the delivery of audio files, in a similar way to blogs. With the popularity of webcams, it is possible for anyone to become a supplier of audio and video content over the Internet in real time.

Voice over IP is a protocol interface for audio communication for quite convenient and easy to use. This technology is maturing as an alternative to conventional phones. Various instant messengers have this technology as an alternative to the text messages in the communication.
