Introduction

www.InternOptions.com

More and more UK students are taking the opportunity to go on a GAP year, before or after their studies. Today however, students are seeing the opportunities Internships abroad can give them to see a country as well as add what future employers want to see on a CV.

But where to go on a GAP year or even better an Internship? Well if you want to learn a foreign language then there are plenty of opportunities in Europe for that. But with Easy Jet and Ryan Air flying you to France and Spain for a tenner, why not go somewhere far away if you're going to do it for a year?

Picture this for a lifestyle, wake up in the morning and open your sliding door onto the deck. Look out over Bondi Beach in Sydney to check if the surf is up. Head down to the beach which is a 5 minute walk, swim in the warm clean water and then have breakfast on the deck in the sun. Then it's off to work feeling like you're on holiday. btw check out the view I had from my desk and kitchen when I did a work placement in Sydney!

Your holidays will give you the chance to see Australia and even pop over to New Zealand which is ranked top tourist destination continuously in British media. Hey even better do your internship in New Zealand.

New Zealand is known for its stunning beauty, friendly people, outdoor lifestyle and beautiful beaches. What a lot of people don't know, however, is that New Zealand has a thriving economy fuelled by companies exporting their goods and services all over the world.

Many New Zealanders, particularly graduates, choose to work overseas for a few years, typically in their twenties. This, plus a low rate of unemployment, means that businesses in all sectors are very much in need of talented people to do some great jobs.

So, what are you waiting for? The other 50,000 people each year from the UK are already having the time of their lives on a working holiday visa in Australia or New Zealand for a year. Plus you don't have to do much, Intern Options can organise you a job and take care of all the details. Give us a call or just send your CV to info@internoptions.com, tell us what you want to do for six months or a year and when you want to start, we'll do the rest.

Gain real-world skills, a fresh perspective, and a point of difference

Employers today are finding it harder and harder to distinguish between university graduates. Working overseas will give you a point of difference from the 150,000 other graduates who complete a sandwich degree in the UK and Ireland each year. Incorporating travel, culture, and practical, hands-on work experience, your time in Australia or New Zealand will not only make your CV stand out to employers but also, more importantly, will give you the life skills to shine in a job interview.

A unique experience

Doing an internship or work placement abroad is a way of having the whole travelling, gap year experience - and getting a head start on your career or future studies at the same time.

Make yourself an asset to your future employer

In the business world and the public sector there is an ever-increasing need for people who can develop new products in international and cross-cultural teams. Chances are that you will be asked to travel or even move abroad with your future employer in the UK. Why not gain the skills and experience now so you can put your hand up with confidence in the future.

Offering Internships Down Under

Intern Options organise work placements and internships for UK and Irish students at companies in Australia and New Zealand. There are a wide range of professional opportunities available, from business contracts for up to 12 months in bustling cities to more short-term, targeted placements in specialist areas such as the veterinary science or medical professions. Some are paid, some are unpaid, but all are going to look good on a CV.

I tought internships were an american idea where graduates worked unpaid usually in a political context - working for a politician or similar. in Australia and NZ we generally expect to be paid to work and any UK or US citizen under 30 (I think) can get a work permit (assuming they arent criminals)

Hi Lissie, not sure on the origin of internships but very big in the UK, there are approx 150 000 students that undertake degrees which have a formal work placement module(s).

It depends what you do your internship in Australia in, there are internships or work placements in just about anything. If it is hospitality then you will be paid but all other areas it is considered a training position so targeting students who have to do a placement as part of their course so unpaid.

New Zealand is a bit different 95% of the internships are paid there.

Cheers
