Interracial Dating in High School-Rascism is not dead Part 2
57Continued from yesterday....Recap: My daughter has a friend whom is African American that she has grown quite fond of. We just have been brought to the realization that our family would never accept a relationship; if one were to materialze. Now here is the other fact that I found shocking....He told my daughter that several of his family would not approve and accept her because she was white. I never thought of reverse racism before.
So what is the future for these two kids....caught in a world of racism from both sides. If they were to ever have a relationship or down the road get married..would they survive just the "normal", ordinary challenges that couples face? Finances, work schedules, children, the pressures of everyday living...THEN....topped off with racial tension from his family and from her family- Would they stand a chance? ...Could each of them find a place in the others world? I ask myself where the fairness is in all of this? It's sad we have not come very far at all in this racial divide. It's 2009- believe it or not.

Hi BMomma, I had mentioned that my chidren are adopted. Christopher was 4 days old when I got him and Chondra was 30 days old when I got her. The curiosity and outright racism over these children were amazing. My daughter sprouted up quickly and more recently I took her to a restaurant to catch up because she is such a busy adult now I never get to see her. The looks of outright hatred I got as an older white guy and this unexplained 18 year old. Black men stared but black women looked like they were going to kill me. I guess they assumed I was a dirty old man preying on a young "sister". Flash forward a few more years and I jump from the frying pan right into the fire. I met my current wife (now of nearly 11 yrs.) and guess which group you could easily associate her with? That's right she has beautiful black skin that if I could negotiate with God I would like to have. The skin I'm in now burns in the sun after only 5 or 10 minutes. But do you think God would even consider a switch - oh no! Anyway, I have grown so used to the looks that sometimes I remind myself to look around just to keep in touch with my surroundings (so to speak) and I still get looks to kill from black women and black guys will give her the eye and then look at me as if to say hay why are you with this clown? Maybe she just likes to laugh, you think buddy? Perhaps if I took off the big red nose and the size48 shoe they wouldn't look at me like I was a clown anymore. Seriously, I love my family and am honored to be a part of such a noble a people. I've told my inlaws so in so many words. I love them all and they make me happy. Thank you for bringing up the subject and giving me a chance to crow about them! Er Er ER ER ERRR!
No body-
Forgive me for not replying to this sooner.I can not let this go without a response- Thank you for sharing your personal story !You have seen this issue from both sides of this horrible "racist" fence. What a walking testiment you are! Praise God for you and your wonderful family! You should be so proud!
I am the most blessed man I know. I love my family and through them the whole black community. I love my Lord and through Him my whole Christian family and then the world and that includes you. One great big...I LOVE YOU!

I think there is no problem in dating a person from different religion, race, sect...etc if they love each other! Love is sublime and knows no colours... Nice hub
