Introducing the Wii Fit Plus
66Set to be released to the public on October 4, 2009, the Wii Fit Plus promises to be a stunning addition to any Wii lover’s library of entertainment. Like its counterpart, the Wii Fit, the Wii Fit Plus gaming bundle is expected to have an ESRB rating of E for Everyone. So what makes this game so special?
Exploring the New Wii Fit Plus
This Wii Fit game was designed to entice even the most dedicated couch potatoes. Before we knew it, millions of people around the world – even those who had previously never played a video game – were standing up and getting active.
The Wii Fit Plus is designed to take your fun video game workouts to the next level – invigorating your workouts with new activities while giving you the option to customize your workout to your own time limitations and physical needs. You will now have the opportunity to set personal fitness goals and, if needed, target specific areas of your body to ensure you’re getting the most productive workout possible.
Tracking Your Progress with the Wii Fit Plus
The Wii Fit Plus was designed, as mentioned before, to help you take your fitness goals to the next level. There are dozens of incredible games to choose from, most of which can be included in one of four categories: balance, strength training, aerobics, and yoga.
Players will be encouraged to import Miis information from their Wii systems in order to set up individual player profiles. The information uploaded will help you to determine your baseline, or starting point, for each game. From here you’ll set your goals and design a routine that will help you to reach them within a reasonable amount of time. The Wii Fit Plus will help you track the amount of time you spend working out, your weight, and will always tell you how close you are to reaching your goal.
Personalizing Your Wii Fit Plus Routines
One of the coolest new additions to the Wii Fit Plus is the ability to step into “The Locker Room” to design your routine before you even begin playing. With the old Wii Fit you would have to play a game, interrupt your workout to select a new game from the menu, and then rev your body up again.
In “the Locker Room” you will have the ability to choose your workout length (20, 30, or 40 minutes) and then tailor a routine to suit your needs. You can choose from one of the Wii Fit Plus preprogrammed routines or act as your own personal trainer and create one of your own. You’ll be able to dictate what games you want to include, how long you want to spend on each one, and what areas of the body you want to focus on the most.
New Yoga, Strength, and Balance Games for the Wii Fit Plus
The games you find on the Wii Fit Plus won’t be stale repeats of the Wii Fit games you found on the original. There are 6 refreshing new yoga and strength building activities as well as 15 new games designed to be used with the balance board.
Prepare yourself for jam packed evenings of skateboarding, snowball fighting, log-leaping, and obstacle course navigating. Each and every game, combined with your ability to create a combination that will give you the workout you desire, is designed to slowly guide you towards your next level of ultimate fitness.
One example of the games on the new Wii Fit Plus itinerary is the Perfect 10. In this game your Mii character will find himself standing between a series of colored balls. Each ball will have a number on it and your goal is to stand on your balance board and swing your hips (like a hula dancer) until you have hit enough balls to total the number 10. You will have a set amount of time to “total 10” as many times as possible. What a fun way to work your core!

Wii Fit Plus Accessories
Most of the games included in the Wii Fit Plus package can be played with either the standard Wii Remote or the Wii Balance Board. If you already own the Wii Fit game and have a balance board than you will be able to purchase the Wii Fit Plus game alone. If you don’t already have a balance board you will be able to purchase one of the Wii bundles that includes the Wii Fit Plus along with the Wii Balance Board. While you can certainly play a significant number of games without a balance board, you won’t get the full effect unless you include one in your game play.
If you enjoyed the Wii Fit than you’re simply destined to love the enhanced workout benefits provided by the Wii Fit Plus. You’ll enjoy both working out alone and playing with the entire family – guaranteed!
