iPod Touch Secrets Revealed
The new iPod Touch by Apple is a fun machine with all its nifty features. With the high sensitivity of its touch screen, you can practically zoom through many of its applications in a cinch.
The new iPod Touch hosts functionalities such as music and video players, wireless technology for accessing websites and download streaming videos online, and more. Actually, there are not many secrets to iPod Touch (probably none at all) since the first firmware version released by Apple. But it's quite different when you have it "jailbreaked", or modified, so to speak.

Adding new features to iPod Touch
With the amazing hardware specification of iPod Touch, one always wonders why waste all the good piece of hardware in it for the built-in applications. Well, there is a way to install non-Apple third-party software into your iPod Touch - modify it.
Modifying your iPod Touch is commonly termed as Jailbreak - the restrictions placed on the iPod Touch will be removed to accommodate any additions to it that the original firmware would not.
Upon reading this, many of you would surf the Internet and find applications or instructions to get it done, quick! But here is one drawback, when your iPod Touch is jailbreaked, the warranty is voided and the company will not be responsible for any repairs or return regarding the unit.
One other risk to having it jailbreak is the possibility of a failure - which would result to a "bricked" unit which would only be useful as a decoration, if nothing else (it could be used as a mirror though considering its glossy surface).
So if you are really decided to take the risk and modify your phone then you need an application, as well as in-depth instructions for that. First, you need to determine the firmware version of your iPod Touch. If its 1.13 or 1.12, then you are safe and good to go; but if you have the 1.14 firmware, then you better hold your horses since there is no jailbreak method for that as of yet.
Actually, if you have the 1.13 and 1.12 firmware, you need to downgrade it back to 1.11 before you continue with jailbreaking it. The instructions on how to proceed with this can be found on the iPod Touch Hacks which can be searched either on Google and Yahoo. The site also offers hacks that add certain features to built-in software on your iPod Touch, like Safari.
The Legendary Diagnostic Screen
Many would be quite interested in enabling the "legendary" diagnostic screen of iPod Touch. But, alas, it was only loaded once due to a possible glitch in the system.
When the iPod Touch is turned on, a diagnostic screen will open instead of the normal menu system of the device. The screen will see a check and x mark on some of the features of the iPod Touch system including WiFi, Bluetooth, Battery, Accelerometer, Buttons, Speaker, Touch, Serial Number, Ambient Light, Headphones, and Temperature.
The check mark would indicate that the feature is enabled in the system, while the others are disabled. One thing amazing though is that, originally, the iPod Touch has no Bluetooth functions in the first place, but why is it here in the diagnostic screen. It it real? Or not? Who knows!
