Kids with iPods
56As a child I loved to read, and as I’ve grown my love for books has always stayed with me. My mother always encouraged me to read, as it is a great way to expand creativity and learn at the same time. Now days, books are still popular with releases of books such as Harry Potter and the Chronicles of Nardia showing how many young book readers there still are. However, with new technology becoming popular with much younger age groups, I was excited to find out about audio books that you can put on your ipod. What a cool way to incorporate technology and fun leaning!
iPods
iPods are one of the most successful consumer electronic products in history. They are the best selling mp3 / mp4 player in the market with the combination of sound quality, sleek design and unique user interface, making the iPod a hit.
As of September 2007, the iPod had sold more than 150 million units worldwide making it the best-selling digital audio player series in history.
Children and technology
Children start using this technology early. According to a Kaiser Family Foundation survey, thirty percent of children age three and under are already using computers. Sixteen percent use them several times a week, twenty-one percent can point and click with a mouse by themselves, and eleven percent can turn on the computer without assistance.
Apple worked this niche and thought of how to protect iPods from little fingers! The iFrogz Tadpole iPod Case features big handles to let little ones use it and includes kid-sized headphones! These cases are shock resistant and bigger to hold for little fingers, they also come in bright fun colours! Apple says it's the perfect way to let children appreciate the clean design and intuitive functionality of the iPod.
Audio Books
Some features the iPod has, that many people especially parents don’t know about, is the ability to load audio books onto them. These are great ideas for car trips or plane travel. It’s more educational and peronal than watching a DVD, and a great solution for motion sickness. As a child I could never read in the car, so this would be a great way to still absorb a favourite book while on the move. These can be purchased online and are not just for the little ones. Books are available for children through to teens and adults.
Bedtime Favourites and Favourite Fairy Stories is one is available online for children ages 2 years and up. It is a collection of classic bedtime songs and favourite fairy stories. Including classics and favourites such as Wee willie winkie; Hush a bye baby; Twinkle twinkle little star and Cinderella just to name a few. The download goes for about 70 mins and is an ideal to wind your child down after their busy day.
