Irving Fryar - NFL Legend

Former NFL wide receiver, Irving Dale Fryar was born on September 28, 1962, in Mount Holly, New Jersey. Fryar now lives in the Jobstown area of the Springfield Township in New Jersey.

Irving Fryar was an All-American player for the University of Nebraska in the early 1980s. Fryer played the game along the side of Mike Rozier, a Heisman Trophy winning running back as well as Turner Gill a quarterback who was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy.

Irving Fryar was the very first wide receiver to ever be drafted in the first overall round of the National Football League Draft. Irving Fryar was drafted to play for the New England Patriots as a top selection in the NFL Draft in 1984.

Irving Fryar played wide receiver for the New England Patriot when they tried for the championship at Super Bowl XX. He scored the only touchdown for the Patriots for that game. The New England Patriots lost the Super Bowl championship title to the Chicago bears with a final score of 46 - 10.

Irving Fryar played for the New England Patriots from 1894 until 1992. He played for the Miami Dolphins from 1993 until 1995. From 1996 until 1998 Fryar played for the Philadelphia Eagles. Irving Fryar retired initially from the National Football League after the season ended in 1998, however, the Washington Redskins convinced him to come out of retirement during 1999 training camp.

During has football career, Irving Fryar played 255 games total and was a five-time Pro Bowler as well for 1997, 1996, 1994, 1995, 1993 and 1985.

After completing seventeen seasons with the National Football League, Irving Fryar retired in 2001.Throughout the course of his professional football career, Irving Fryer was responsible for catching 851 passes for 12,785 receiving yards and successfully made 84 touchdowns.

In addition, Irving Fryar also had one rushing yard and three punt return touchdowns during his time with the NFL as a wide receiver. Also, he gained 242 rushing yards, returned 2,055 punts and returned 505 kickoff yards and 7 fumble yards. Therefore, throughout his career with the National Football League, Irving Fryar had 15,594 all-purpose yards.

Irving Frayer currently holds the National Football League Record for touchdowns reception from 19 passers and at least 2 touchdown receptions throughout 16 seasons consecutively. Irving Fryar was also the first player to acnieve a touchdown reception for 17 seasons consecutively. He is tied for twenty-eighth place with Andre Reed and Don Maynard on the National Football League's list of All-Time Touchdowns.

During his time on the field as a professional football player for the National Football League, Irving Fryar earned the nickname, "The Reverend" due to the fact that he is an ordained minister. Irving Fryar made an appearance in the big screen film "Any Given Sunday" as well as the television show Coach Osborne: More Than Winning.

Irving Fryar has a son, Irving Fryar, Jr., who has made a name for himself like his father and was definitely noticed by scouts.
