The Implications of What Franklin Roosevelt Said About Fascism.

Franklin Roosevelt defined fascism as government being owned by a private individual, group or organization. It is my view that under the authority of George W. Bush, the oil companies of the United States and Britain took ownership of the United States government, moving them to invade Iraq to gain control of oil reserves. This is a war crime. And this action was the ownership of government by Exxon and Chevron (and the ownership of England by Royal Dutch Shell and BP) in order to steal oil reserves, ie, commit an illegal action.

This is pretty simple folks. It is 8th grade 101. Communism is ownership of the business structure by government. Fascism is the ownership of government by the business structure. While the USA has elements of both, as well as an element of democracy, clearly the financial system and big business owns the government of the United States.

Dwight Eisenhower believed that the military industrial complex should not gain an inordinate amount of power. But the oil companies accumulated that power in the persons of George W. Bush and Richard Cheney of Halliburton and Condi Rice of Chevron (where she was a director). It is disturbing that the United States Congress became a part of this sad legacy by seeking a contract with the Iraq government where our oil companies (Exxon,Chevron,Shell and BP) would control 4/5 of the reserves of Iraq and most of the profits on those while the Iraq people would share in the remaining 1/5 of the reserves.

It is no wonder that the Iraq nation is refusing to sign this stealing contract. Even their happiness with the ouster of Saddam has not made them miss the point, we went into Iraq for their oil. And they know it!

From Fun Facts About Chevron (the link is directly below) are the following quotes from an American general and from Chevron CEO's:

“Iraq possesses huge reserves of oil and gas—reserves I’d love Chevron to have access to.” —Kenneth T. Derr, CEO of Chevron, 1998 (Note that Condi Rice was a member of the Chevron Board and had a tanker named after her.)

“Although the final decision for inviting foreign investment ultimately rests with a representative Iraqi government, I believe in due course the invitation will come.” —Peter J. Robertson, Chevron vice chairman, September 2003

“Of course it’s about oil, we can’t really deny that.” —General John Abizaid, retired head U.S. Central Command and military operations in Iraq, on the Iraq War, 2007

So is there any doubt as to why we went into Iraq?

America can reverse this fascism, but it will not be an easy task. And it could be repeated if Jeb Bush or Sarah Palin ever come to power in the United States. Jeb Bush was a member of PNAC, a neocon organization that called for a "Pearl Harbor" type event, and Sarah Palin said that the Iraq War was "holy", and she advocates dominionism. American oil companies are still getting their way in Afghanistan.

The war on terror is really a war for a pipeline through Afghanistan. That is just another shameful action by the United States government. Scroll down and read more with links and proofs.

Our Little Fascist War: Afghanistan! The Taliban Went to Texas!

This Afghanistan Fascism is tricky. It is not on the scale of Iraq oil theft. However, it is a serious violation of sovereignty. How many of you know that the Taliban were dined (not wined) in Texas in 1997, courtesy the Texas oil company Unocal? The Taliban were offered 100 million dollars to put a pipeline through Afghanistan in order to have direct access to Caspian Sea oil! From the BBC we can see that Bush had a motive for allowing and even facilitating 9/11:

"Q&A: US terror intelligence", 11 June 2002 ] "The national security advisor, Condoleezza Rice, says the President [Bush] was briefed in August last year that Osama bin Laden planned to hijack American aircraft." [ BBC News, "World Trade Centre: Could the attacks have been prevented?", 22 May 2002 ] "FBI agent ... expected to publicly tell a Senate committee ... bosses hindered enquiries into the man now suspected of being the would-be 20th hijacker. "The United States Congress has begun hearings into possible US intelligence failures in the run-up to the attacks of 11 September. "The hearings are secret in order to protect sources." [ BBC News, "Congress probes US intelligence failures", 5 June 2002. "Ms Rowley, an FBI agent for 22 years, said senior personnel put 'roadblocks' in the way of Minneapolis staff trying to investigate Zacarias Moussaoui, now alleged to be the '20th hijacker'." [ BBC News, "Bush overhauls domestic security", 7 June 2002 ]

It has been noted in the links below that the US government attacked the Taliban prior to 9/11 and that not for repulsion about their laws and punishment, but because we wanted that pipeline built. If you add this knowledge to the knowledge that Bush wanted Al Qaida to attack us according to the PNAC desire to have a "Pearl Harbor" type event, then you can see just how evil George Bush was. This attack would galvinize America to fight both in Afghanistan and to unknowingly support the theft of Iraq oil!

I noticed that Dylan Ratigan is trying really hard on CNBC to push for clawbacks. Perhaps all contracts should have clawback clauses so that the counterparty can get money back. Ratigan wants clawbacks for bonuses based upon ill gotten ponzi leverage.

Yes very Socialist in many ways especially at the corporate level here is a quick example of this Government Wealth Redistribution.

Warren Buffet got a 100 million dollar Subsidy from the City of Buffalo. The money was to build a call center for GEICO the insurance company Warren owns under the Berkshire Umbrella. Anyway after all costs were totalled the project cost just 40 million. Do you think Big Huggy Cuddly Warren gave Buffalo and its taxpayer the other 60 million back. Nope went down as profit.

This type of Welfare is very damaging as it creates artificial company profits, that are really just the people money pumping up the Corporate bottom line.

Thanks Themoneyguy. I have added the sordid story of Afghanistan to the mix. There is certain evidence that Bush allowed 9/11 to galvinize support for his attacks (previous to 9/11) on Afghanistan and in other hubs I have argued that he also facilitated the 9/11 attacks and allowed Marvin Bush to put explosives into the towers.

Yes, the Article defends Roosevelt, as whether you agree with his methods or not the Outcome was for the best. History is funny that way it doesn't matter how good or bad the Idea was if the Outcome was bad the whole thing is bad, if the outcome was good the whole thing was good.

The problem with this form of Capitalism is that it isn't a market system at all, it is very much a system of Government use of force to accomplish corporate ends.

The stuff about the Chinese is dead on. Americans are having a hard excepting there isn't any real value to would you like fries with that.

Good Hub.

Thanks for your thoughtful post Themoneyguy. And the links are very interesting. However, because of a flaw in the capitalistic system that we have been under for the past 8 years, investment banks essentially lied to investors the world over and sold them toxic worthless bonds based upon mortgages that were option arm, no doc (liar), adjustable, interest only, etc, etc. So, the question is, can capitalism right the ship without a stimulous plan. There is evidence in the 1930's that unemployment decreased from 25 percent to 10 percent through 1936. But when fiscal responsibility was established in 1937, unemployment skyrocketed back up. The issue is not that government should control the markets continually, but that the government can jumpstart certain turnover of dollars. Now I would agree that with regard to housing, it is risky business to try to set a floor under housing prices that is artificially high. That could freeze the market quickly. The problem our government faces is how to stimulate the economy without setting that artificial floor under housing. If the floor is artificial how can anyone value the true price of a house!? The problem though boils down to this. A guy on CNBC hit it right on the head. The Chinese make things and we sell each other insurance. That is the problem in a nutshell.

Your second article actually defends Roosevelt.

It is interesting that some of the descendents of Jews (and I am with my natural father being Jewish and I was adopted by Gentiles) supported the fascism of the oil companies. In fact, many members of PNAC were Jewish Americans by birth. What could be more disappointing than that!

Misha has it pretty close,

Fascism however, can be socialist (Nazi's) or Corporatecracy (Mussolini's Italy). Socialism is an economic policy where as Fascism is a description of the Marriage of Government and Corporate interest.

FDR was a huge Fascist; he used a smart disinformation campaign to make it so we could wage war on Fascism without realizing we were a Fascist state. Here is a good read on the subject.

I think Germany's brand of fascism which had a lot of extra evil actions and rules was called "National Socialism".

The jury is out on whether fascism will continue under Obama. I certainly hope it doesn't, however, the war on terror is a bogus war, since Osama Bin Laden was never Bush's target. He wanted Iraq oil and could care less who attacked the US since, I believe, he facilitate the attack.

I find it perplexing that the 9/11 victims families, or at least many of them, don't figure out that the reason Bush stopped attending their yearly reunion is because he sent their loved ones to their deaths. Chilling, but most likely the truth about what happened. He attended the first reunion then snubbed them for the remainder of his term.

Brave hub! One of the problems I see that prevents the US from living up to its greatness is that you don't get the same news that countries outside the US get. It's starting to be the same in Canada, but we still have much more open news source than the main networks (especially Fox) in the US. We knew there were no WBD long before your networks admitted it.

By the way, Misha,if the government owns the police and the army, and almost half it's budget goes to that, does that make it a socialist government? And how about you, when you sit down to the toilet? Who owns the sewer system? The govt? Does that make you a socialst? How about when you drive on an Interstate, or most of the roads in the US. Owned by the government. Hmmm?

And in the truly socialist countries like Sweden, Denmark, Norway companies such as Ikea, SAAB, and Volvo thrive. While in the US, the government just purchased a large chunk of the big 3, and the banks. More to come? Hmm?

Land of confusion, indeed!

But, when all is said, where else can so much power change hands so peacefully? The US is a remarkable country, and I'd urge all citizens thereof to take good care of it, and not let it become a Fascist state.

We have always lived under the illusion that the government works for us and that we were free, but not everyone has been and not everyone is, we all are pretty much owned by someone.

I just want to be able to scratch my nuts and drink from coconuts all day.

Whatever label the government uses to describe themselves doesn't matter, 5% of the world owns 95% percent of the world's wealth. What's that called?

In the rest of the world things that are called socialism and fascism are very similar. Major similarity - government owns everything, hence totalitarianism. Major difference - target group to channel populace anger. Rich under socialism, and race/nationality under fascism.
