Is Bigfoot the missing link?

By now you should all know about the country bumpkins that were hunting in the woods and shot a legendary "Bigfoot". Pictures of the corpse of Bigfoot have surfaced all over the internet and other news media. The question now remains to be asked: Is it real? The corpse is being taken to scientists to autopsy and get DNA information on it's origins. My question is: Is Bigfoot the missing link? Descriptions of Bigfoot describe a half man, half bear or apelike creature that walks upright. I want to know does Bigfoot have a "language"? What does Bigfoot eat? How do the Bigfoot creatures survive? Are there other Bigfoot colonies out there or is it strictly an American phenomenon? I suppose further information on Bigfoot will have to wait until the scientist finish testing.

P.S. Is it just me, or is DNA testing becoming the answer to every problem these days?

First I've heard of it.

There is no "missing link".  The evolutionary path of Homo sapiens is by now pretty well established.  There are undoubtedly some different branches and side paths, maybe a few detours that are yet to be discovered. As interesting and, if this isn’t a hoax, exciting as this “discovery” may be I don’t think it will fundamentally alter the story of evolution.

Well, by now we know this story turned out to be a false report.  The "body" was a rubber suit that looked pretty darned real.

I agree with CWB that the whole missing link idea was pretty much debunked over the past three decades or so.  And just as true is that Evolution is fact and we are all the same, regardless of place of origin.

Personally, I doubt a real Bigfoot creature exists.  If they do find one I also don't think it would alter our own place in the evolutionary path.  Still, it would be kind of neat to think such a large primate could exist incognito within the American continent.

After all, they have found some "extinct" sea creatures that still exist.  Of course, the world is 7/10ths ocean, so I guess a creature could hide much more easily in the depths of the sea than on land, since life on land is more or less confined to a 2 dimentional plane and the oceans provide more or less a 3 dimentional sphere.

I think there is a good chance that these creatures do exist in tiny, and probably dwindling numbers. Have you read the recent hub about 'human giants'? Evidence definitely exists that a race of human giants, between 8 and 12 feet tall, once roamed the Americas, and we're talking within the last couple of centuries, not ancient times. That being so, I think the chances for good old Bigfoot being a real creature are moderate to good. As Shakespeare once said 'There are stranger things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in our philosophy.'
