Good news for coffee drinkers! It's actually good for you. Besides perking up your morning, it actually has been discovered that it can boost your health in many ways.

Coffee contains abundant antioxidants. Antioxidants help neutralize free radicals which can attack and damage our cells. Also, it doesn't matter if it's regular or decaf. Most coffee drinkers consume more coffee than any other source of antioxidants such as grapes, cranberries, and orange juice. One surprising study found that coffee has four times the antioxidants found in green tea.

If you're like me, you have to have regular coffee, not decaf in the morning. Caffeine is a natural stimulant that gives you the little extra pick me up to get you through the day. I like to drink coffee in the morning, then again after lunch to keep fresh and alert. Then finally a decaf at night to help me sleep.

However, I have found that coffee has several other benefits.

Coffee has been found to increase short term memory and keep you sharp over a lifetime.

Coffee has been found to reduce the onset of type 2 diabetes as published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, Jan 6, 2004.

Coffee contains soluble fiber in higher doses than found in wine and orange juice. Soluble fiber prevents cholesterol from being absorbed by the intestines.

Coffee reduces the risk of developing dementia and Alzheimer's disease and coffee drinkers are less likey to get Parkinson's disease.

Coffee drinkers have less incidence of cirrhosis of the liver and liver cancer. Other correlations have been found with reduced risks of oral, esophageal and pharyngeal cancers.

I hope this cheers up coffee lovers everywhere. I know I feel better.

One last thing, the coffee I recommended above is for those who care about environmentally-friendly farming and/or supporting small farms, organic, washed in rain water, then sun dried. One more reason to feel good about drinking coffee!
