Is Empty Stomach Cardio a Good Plan For Fat Loss?
73You've probably heard of a certain type of training method - empty stomach cardio training - that promises to help take your fat loss to an entirely new level.
But, is this really the case? Or, is it basically just a form of torture that you're going to put yourself through without really seeing any different results?
Here are a few of the top things to consider about empty stomach cardio for fat loss.
It Boils Down To Calorie Burn
The first thing to realize is that whether or not you realize weight loss with your workout program is dependant on how many calories you burn versus how many calories you expend.
Individuals who are taking in more calories than they are burning are not going to lose weight and those that aren't, will.
Simple - or so it seems.
Whether or not you eat before you do your cardio training, as long as you're still eating the same total amount of calories over the day and you're still burning the same number of calories with your training, the results will be the same.
If Intensity Suffers, Results Will Suffer
Next, also keep in mind the intensity with which you are working at. If you're working out at an intensity that's much lower than you otherwise would have becasue you didn't eat before the empty stomach cardio, that's a problem.
Intensity level is going to really impact how many calories you burn during the workout, so again this will reduce your chances of fat loss significantly.
Avoid Extended Duration Empty Stomach Cardio
Finally, the last thing you should know is that you should never perform extremely long cardio sessions on an empty stomach. This is just setting you up for muscle mass loss, which will then make it even harder to lose weight.
If you are going to do empty stomach cardio, keep it limited to 30 minutes max and do it at a low to moderate intensity level.
