Is It Our Own Fault We Have Diabetes?
58I remember over hearing someone say this once, "Well it's her own fault she has diabetes, look what she eats".
It is a cruel think to say and I am not even sure it is true, we all know stories of people who do nothing but eat rubbish all day and have perfect cholesterol, perfect heart rate and no signs of diabetes. Then someone else who watches every ounce they injest and exercises regularly has to pop untold pills as they seem to have every condition under the sun.
It isn't fair, but a certain percentage of whatever illness we have is due to our parents. Well maybe not just our parents but them and their parents and their parents
So to some extent we all have to accept what nature has dealt us, we can sit here moaning about it or we can accept it and see what we can do to mitigate the problem.
One of the hardest things for anyone with diabetes is what to eat, breakfast for diabetics is vital. When you were a kid and your mum kept saying not to ignore breakfast as it is the most important meal of the day.. the news is she was right.
If you are young when you develop diabetes, normally type 1 diabetes, it seems to be harder to keep a strict diet. Yet this is exactly the time when you need to learn to control your sugar levels and also your food cravings.
Be honest you are probably so busy for most of the day that you don't even know what job you have to do next. Whether you are running around for work, the kids or just general family stuff there is always something extra that you need to find time for.
Your busy schedule and hectic lifestyle could be masking your diabetes symptoms, or at least stopping you noticing them. More than once I have heard people say "I am too busy to be sick". Your body doesn't want you to become really sick so it sends you messages, you just need to take the time to hear those messages.
