Is the traditional Jamu Postnatal Massage effective for me?

Jamu Postnatal Massage originates from Central Java ,Indonesia. For centuries, it was a skill passed down by generations from the grandmother to the daughter. This was a very special skill that was the exclusive property among the Malay community. According to the beliefs in Indonesia, they believed that Postnatal massage helps the mother gain back her strength , beauty and health within 40 days after birth. The treatment is performed by an elderly experience masseuse who fully understands the inner and outer of the body. Postnatal massage is usually done in the early morning, the masseuse prepares charcoal in a pot burner and the mother is supposed to stand over the charcoal for 15 minutes. This warms her body and tightens the vaginal muscles. Followed by a herbal oil massage to help unknot the tenses muscles and improve the muscle tone. The massage also helps to dispel wind and reduces water retention. Next is followed by applying a mixture of cajuput oil, lime, betel leaves and Jamu tapel to form a paste. This is applied on the stomach to clean out remaining blood in the womb and helps to firm and shrink the stomach. Binding with a cotton cloth from the rib cage to the hip bone is done thereafter. The binding needs to be reasonably tight to gain its effect and it is to be worn to sleep. This helps to regain the figure. Today many may question about whether is it worth the discomfort and effort. Indonesian mothers are the living proof, they emerge from childbirth with radiance and glow and they still look slender as ever.
