Is Joining Costco Really Worth It and Will You Save Much?
75To Join or Not Join Costco
You may be considering joining Costco but don't know if it is worth it. For some people their image of the store is of giant sized portions that would never fit in the average fridge. While there are larger sizes available there are many regular sized products.
The key to saving money though is to go ahead and buy the larger sized portions, often twice as much for the same price as regular sized containers of the same item in a regular grocery strore, and placing portions of it in sealed plastic containers if you can't use it all at once.
And yes, Costco has a full supply of containers to do this with.
Costco sells things you would never imagine, such as wedding bands, loose diamonds, home wind power systems and professional tools.
Costco has a basic membership that costs $50 and an "Executive" membership that costs $100.
With the Executive membership you get two cards per household and you also get two percent cash back on most purchases in the store.
If you buy your car tires, batteries, groceries, tools, and most of the other products you use at costco this can make the cost of membership free.
Surprisingly Costco offers many services with membership that you would not have thought of, like funeral, pharmacy, travel deals, insurance and even business phone service and an auto buying plan with pre negotiated deals at your area car dealers that are often better than what you can get on your own.
In these tough economic times shopping at Costco can be one way to save money.
Here is a little tidbit that can save you even more money at Costco. Look for prices ending in .97 That is Costco's secret code to indicate that the item has been marked down to cost.

It is true what you say. One example is Kashi cereal. The same box is fifty cents cheaper at Safeway so you really have to watch prices.
Very interesting hub. I don't shop at Costco anymore, since my children grew up. But I still say this is a good hub.
