Gay Marriage

Should gays have the opportunity to legally marry as their heterosexual counterparts or marriage should be reserved for a man and a woman. People will generally make their decisions on this subject base on their political leanings. Those that argue for gay marriage are generally people with left political ideology and those against are consider to be on the right spectrum.

Gay marriage, should the debate be cast as a religious issue, if yes should the government approach the debate from a religious prospective or from a secular point of view. If our government is refrain from establishing a religion or prohibiting the free excise thereof, them should our government be basing their decision on religion or the public interest.

What is the public interest when it comes to allowing gay marriage, or is traditional marriage going to fade away if gay marriage is allow. The two very intestine questions has to be balance by our government in reaching a decision on this very sensitive issue. Let look at the data when it comes to the traditional marriage of a man and a woman. Will our data include the rest of the world and how far back are we willing to go. Is marriage in the sixth century the same as marriage today, or do marriages vary from culture to culture. If there is a variation in marriages from culture to culture than what is the real defination of marriage, is the definition going to be universal or just an American spin.

Over the centuries since the beginning of man marriages has evolved from the days of the early Egyptians when marriages were define differently to mordern day America. Is the evolution of marriage yet taking a new look as the evolution of the role of government itself. Let face it government role has evolved over the centuries to a more tolerant levels and an activist role. Should we accept the evolution of marriage(Gay Marriage) as we have accepted the evolution of the role of governments and the evolution of the role of women.

The issue of gay marriage is here to stay and the debate will continue about the role of government regarding this issue. And, if history is any guide the opponent of Gay Marriage will be disappointed because there's one thing that is always going to be constant, change. Change is something that no government or person can prevent.
