Was your dog sprayed by a skunk?  If so, you may feel that the first thing you need to do is to get rid of that awful odor! And, of course, that is very important.  But, the first thing you need to do is to check your dog to see if he has been sprayed in the mouth or face.  At the same time that you are doing this, you need to check for bites or scratches.

Why bites and scratches?  Although all skunks do not carry rabies, they are known rabies carriers.
