It seems like everyone wants the new iphone, and those who do not yet have it are wondering what all the fuss is about. Well, here is the downlow on if the iphone really is a worthwhile purchase, or if you should simply choose the highlighted phone on your month's contract by someone just like you, the person who is not really into the cell phone market who simply wants a new phone!

If you looking into an iphone, one thing that you are definetly buying is the name. The same is true of most Blackberry purchases, because you think Blackberry you think celebrities, you think iphone, you think trendy hip, and young. While being spotted with an iphone is cool, outside of that, the iphone is not really worth your money.

The truth is there are many cell phones out there that are much better Smartphones than the iphone, such as the xperia x1, and the LG Vu. While you probably have not heard as much about these phones as the iphone, they have bettter cameras, better RAM, and better resolutions. This of course is tossing aside the fact that they also are made for Windows, meaning you can actually find more compatible internet features in a Microsoft world instead of wrestling with the Apple components of the iphone if you do not own a Mac.

The iphone is cool, that is with a doubt, my fiance owns one and I have played with it and used it. However, I find that he plays with it more, than actually ever uses most of its capabilities. While i watch him play with it, I cannot help but think about the other Smart phones I have written about as a content provider, and wonder why he paid so much for a phone that really does not respond half as well.

Another thing that bugs me about the iphone, is that unlike many Smartphones on the market, there is no slide keyboard, or any real qwerty keypad at all.  To type you have to single handly manange to hit the right button on a touchscreen.  This can be a major pain while searching for items, and the iphone does not come with a nice pointer to help you press the right button.  If you thought you could text fast and search the internet with ease, forget that with the iphone!  There are many slide qwerty keypads that do make the actual cell phone any thicker than the iphone is, so why the heck is the iphone still the same size and weight?  Without a fold out or slide keyboard, shouldn't it be thinner?   

Here is my other big problem with the iphone, his holds all the time. For those who do not know what this means, it means that it essentially freezes. Other people with older iphones are finding that they have cracks on the display of their phones, because Apple cut corners with their coverings. Meaning essentially that they have structural cracks that are unavoidable because the phone's exterior was designed incorrectly. And guess what, even though you have shelled out well over $400 for the iphone, Apple will not fix it. Outside of thier insurance policies.

Everything Apple has ever made always has some problem, becuase they rush their products to the market. Remember how ipod batteries were failing, and people had to purchase new batteries, very expensive because Apple did not design them right. Or how about the fact that most of the people who bought an iphone orginally, got refunds becuase of problems with the iphone. I can keep going with Apple's rushed mistakes, but here is my point, if you are going to spend that much on a cell phone, dont you want one that is designed properly in the first place, and not a product that you know is prone to bugs?

So here's my final view on the iphone: Is it sweet, popular, hip, trendy, and fun to use? Yes the iphone is all of these. For the amount you will spend, is it worth it? No. As simple as that. If you want a cool phone, by all means get one, but at least pay for the power behind the phone, not the name.
