2009 Camaro - It Has Arrived!
76Yippee!
I don't know why I'm so excited. It's not as if I'm running out to buy one (not that I wouldn't in two seconds if I could, sigh).
I can't help it, though. My mom had a '68 and it was sweet. Plain and simple. I have been in love with the 67-69 body style ever since. That was when they were hot. They looked like some kind of animal on the prowl.
Since then, hoo boy have they had some ugly camaros! Sorry if you're a fan of those big beastly things from the 70's and 80's, but they should have just called them something else.
No Bueno
Eventually the Camaro disappeared all together, allegedly due to low sales volume. People were trimming their mullets and buying smaller cars.
She's Ba-ack!
It had been a long time coming when GM announced that they were bringing back the Camaro. But I forgave them as soon as I found out that they'd be designing it after my favorite, beefy late sixties models. Again, I'm currently not in the, ah, position to purchase one but still, I am in love with this car and was happy to know I'd be seeing them on the road.
It has been a long few years since then and it seems like they just kept pushing back the release date, tantalizing us with ridiculously sexy concept drawings. Finally, in 2007, I got to see one at the Auto Expo. It was just a shell - nothing worked and you couldn't get in, but I stood next to its fire.
Yeah.
At some point in the very recent past, the first coupes crept off the line and quietly made their way onto the roads. You can also rent one from Avis. I have got to figure out a way to make that a business expense.
As far as performance goes, initial road tests have the '09 models coming in above both Chrysler and Ford (surprise, surprise), besting the Mustang as well as the Challenger.
I knew it would. This is like finding out that Santa Claus is real after all and I finally get to do a little "neiner neiner neiner" dance about it for all those who doubted.
.
Here's the road test article~

And for the Grande Finale~
I'll leave you with the image of the Hennessy package, a super hi-pro Camaro coming to dealerships later this year. It is a beautiful freak of nature, having been hybrid with the Corvette ZR1. The coolest thing about this, besides that it's even more awesome looking than a regular Camaro, is that it has the 705 hp LS9 engine. This means that it gets up and gets it. Imagine driving this thing, oh my, my, my.
It runs about $100,000 USD so it might be several months after its release before you see me out and about in it. Perhaps I'll make enough with the whole AdSense thing to put a down payment on one. I would then have to hold a contest to give someone the chance to be taken for the ride of their life. I would also have to consider moving to Deutschland to get in on this whole Autobahn business. How many speeding tickets can I get before I'm imprisoned - or worse, have my Camaro taken away?!
But, I am getting ahead of myself. For now, I will gaze at my concept pictures and keep perfecting the look I shall have on my face as I drive past those doubters earlier alluded to. I can envision it now: my hair whipping in tendrils behind my beaming face, Santa Claus in Bermuda shorts in the passenger seat giving them the finger. Beautiful, man.
..and without further ado, the Hennessy Camaro (swoon)

My pleasure! Thanks for reading, James!!
Nice Ride ! Nice Read. But have you heard the sad news? the GTO will now be a thing of the past, Pontiac will no longer be making them. Ive been singing " little GTO your really looking fine"...all day
Oh Sandman, that is very sad indeed! Another one of the greats, what a shame..
Thanks for reading - and for putting a new song in my head! :)
Roobee - I gotta get me one. Someday, somehow! Beautiful, sexy yadda yadda yadda! Mmmmmm.
I would - money no object - present me with a Red GTO if if if I had the spare change for one.
You and Santy Claws are gonna look just fine - one day ;)
When we both get our dream cars, we'll have to have a road trip!
Thanks for 'dropping' in hehe
Roobee - my name. You'd think 'froghopping' would've worked better huh? Frogs hop. But 'frogdropping'?
Man was I drunk ...
And yep - you're on for the road trip. Roobee and the frog - what could we get up to ;)
No, no the name is a keeper and the trip will be epic for sure! :)
Makes our cars over here look rubbish, tis a beast : )
badcomany99, mmmhmm, a beautiful beast she is!! Thx for dropping by!
I love this car
You and I both Lgali! Thx for reading about my baby :)
It really does look ssssweeet! :D I heard Chevrolet just confirmed that they're offering a Transformers Bumblebee edition for the 2010 Camaro. If they can make it with a button to make it transform into Bumblebee, I'm selling my soul to get one! Haha! :P
Oh, Susan, that is sooo cool!! Yeah, if it transforms - especially if it talks and everything - I'll be next in line at the soul depository! lol ;) Can you imagine? That would be AWESOME....*fantasizing*
Thanks for reading!
Yup i agree the first generation of camaros was definitely the best especially the 69 woo those are sweet.
im liking the new camaros but not very many are being sold at dealers only on ebay and those sorts of things. and they aint cheap on ebay theyve been selling them around 43k which is a little crazy for me.
wow, Method Zero. That is a little high for a stock model....who knows what will happen to value, availability, etc w/ GM tanking!!
Glad you can appreciate the beauty as I do & thanks a million for stopping by my hub!
Anytime :)
One of best cars i have see, i love it, too bad im from Europe and this vehicle is not availabel here.
arcadegamer - I finally saw one here in my town on the freeway yesterday. It was red and lovely. Perhaps over time, some super-rich playboy types will have them flown in and you'll see them stalking the roads over there.
Where in Europe? We could start a human rights campaign and try to get Camaros for your people!!!! LOL Thanks for coming by!
That green camaro concept is so awesome. I have never seen that before. Great hub!
Thanks, 1cardude! Dontcha just looove that one?! Thanks for cruising by! :)
I always liked the Camaro, a friend of mine in the mid-70's owned one and let me drive it once in awhile. I've wanted one ever since, and the new models you have shown here wouldn't disappoint!
Thanks!
