Chemical Components and Bonds

Did you know that one of the most beautiful minerals in the world shares its exact chemical composition with one of the least beautiful?  Diamonds and Graphite are both made soley of carbon.  Why do they not look the same?  The difference is in the bonds.  Bonds in diamonds are some of the strongest chemical bonds, making them very difficult to break.  Graphite, however, contains weaker bonds, which causes them to break easily.

These two minerals, identical in components, are vastly different.

So it is with people.  All people are people.  We are made of the same ingredients, interestingly also carbon, and other things.  Yet, we all turn out differently.  Some choose the weaker bonds of this world, and become Graphite.  They are dark and break easily, figuratively speaking.

Others choose bonds with God and with Christian friends, and become Diamonds, who are very strong.

Also, many people would have you believe that people who do evil will appear the same on the outside as people who do good.  This might be partially true.  However, how long do you think a chunk of Graphite can cover its dark nature?  The Bible says we will know Christians by their fruits.

When you see someone whose fruits are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, this indicates that they have been made Diamonds by the Creator.

What are you?  It's not what you're made of, it's what you do with yourself that makes the difference.
