I Samuel 28

1. And it came to pass in those days, that the Philistines gathered their armies together for warfare, to fight with Israel. And Achish said unto David, Know thou assuredly, that thou shalt go out with me to battle, thou and thy men.

2. And David said to Achish, Surely thou shalt know what thy servant can do. And Achish said to David, Therefore will I make thee keeper of mine head for ever.

3. Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land.

4. And the Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and pitched in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they pitched in Gilboa.

5. And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart greatly trembled.

6. And when Saul inquired of the Lord, the Lord answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.

7. Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.

8. And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee.

9. And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die?

10. And Saul sware to her by the Lord, saying, As the Lord liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.

11. Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel.

12. And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul.

13. And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth.

14. And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself.

15. And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.

16. Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the Lord is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy?

17. And the Lord hath done to him, as he spake by me: for the Lord hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbour, even to David:

18. Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the Lord, nor executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath the Lord done this thing unto thee this day.

19. Moreover the Lord will also deliver Israel with thee into the hand of the Philistines: and to morrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me: the Lord also shall deliver the host of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.

20. Then Saul fell straightway all along on the earth, and was sore afraid, because of the words of Samuel: and there was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night.

21. And the woman came unto Saul, and saw that he was sore troubled, and said unto him, Behold, thine handmaid hath obeyed thy voice, and I have put my life in my hand, and have hearkened unto thy words which thou spakest unto me.

22. Now therefore, I pray thee, hearken thou also unto the voice of thine handmaid, and let me set a morsel of bread before thee; and eat, that thou mayest have strength, when thou goest on thy way.

23. But he refused, and said, I will not eat. But his servants, together with the woman, compelled him; and he hearkened unto their voice. So he arose from the earth, and sat upon the bed.

24. And the woman had a fat calf in the house; and she hasted, and killed it, and took flour, and kneaded it, and did bake unleavened bread thereof:

25. And she brought it before Saul, and before his servants; and they did eat. Then they rose up, and went away that night.

I wrote, about the Celts, Northern European group of people from England and Ireland, who would try to appease, soothe and calm down the evil spirit: ghost, goblins, and the demons, and the demons. Huge “Samhain” bonfires built to light the way for all the spirits to find their way into the world of the living. People today through sin are allowing these spirits to find their way into their lives by falling for the trick.

Remember October 31^st to the druids, was nigh Samhain return with the spirit of the dead, (demons). They had to “appease” or “treat” them or the living would be trick.

Ephesians 6:10-13 King James Version

10. Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.

11. Put on the whole Armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

The Bible talks about wiles and wrestling in these two scriptures. The word “wiles” in the Webster Dictionary means magic, and divination. It also means to be sly, trick; deceitful, artifices stratagem, and it is beguiling craftiness that brings on mental confusion.

The word "wrestle", in the Webster Dictionary means a struggle, hand-to-hand, with an opponent in an attempt to throw or force a person to the ground without striking a blow. Satan is the dust eater and you are created from the dust. Satan want to trick you, so he will put a potential treat in front of you, so that you will leave your heavenly position in Christ Jesus that he may get you to the ground spiritual where he can eat you. Its a trick and you are the trick. He does this by wrestling with you in your mind. Trying to wrestle you out of your position in Christ Jesus, so he can attack and eat all that you own or have that is good and full of life.

Here is some extra information I did not give you in my last writing concerning this helliday, concerning Shamhain or “Saman.”  Another name for this helliday called, “The Vigil of Saman” You have probably seen a modern day version of this person and did not know what you were looking at.  This pagan god is shown as a ghostly, skeleton holding a sickle in his hand He is now know as the Grim Reaper.  You would be surprise how many people allowed their children to dress up like this person who is a symbol of the devil himself, Satan. 

I Samuel 28:7 King James Version

7.  Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.

After Samuel death, the Philistines had become bold, and fearless, the anointing was gone from Saul’s life.  Saul became more afraid, like Adam and Eve, he knew he was naked, and there was no presence of the Lord in his life. Saul  had killed all the prophets, people was afraid of Saul for he was bewitched, meaning that he was under the power of an evil spirit, that is what the word, “bewitch” means, Saul was mad. Now Saul is in this trouble, he has been trick by Satan to time and time again not obey the Word of the Lord and he has backslide to a point where no saint or religious person could pray him through or give him a word for the Lord our God. Saul who had place an edict against witchcraft, and who had executed those, who had practice witchcraft and who had familiar spirits (demons), now is seeking someone to divine his future.

18. Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

People who are involved into witchcraft are people who have turn their backs on God. They have rejected God. Saul was a person who had and was rebellious towards the Lord, and the word of God tells us this.

I Samuel 15:23-24 King James

23.  For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

24.  And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.

Rebellion is the same as witchcraft. Saul would not obey anything God told him to do. In doing so Saul open himself up to the Devil leading, therefore this evil spirit enter him, and Satan now had Saul’s soul and body. It’s a Trick and Saul is the treat, result Saul became insane.

So now, the great Saul who had place an edict against witchcraft, and executed those who practice witchcraft now must turn to one. What a contradiction, Saul knew the heinousness of what he was doing or he would not have killed so many people who practice the occult. However, as soon as Saul heard of her, he hastens to her by night, not wanting any light shed on what he was doing.

8.  And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee.

Saul puts on other raiment, other clothing, takes off his royal robes and tries to disgust himself as someone else and goes out, and seeks a witch and knocks on hells door to see if anyone, there will be friend him.  He leaves at night, thinking that no one will see him; no one will notice him.  However, God sees him. He says to himself, if I can not get information, which I need from God, and then I will get it from the devil“, divine unto me the familiar spirit,” bring him up to me”.

9.  And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die?

10.  And Saul sware to her by the Lord, saying, As the Lord liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.

11.  Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel.

The witch all with of her enchantment is determine to give King Saul what he wants, she is going to gratify his desires, and bring up Samuel, but not until Saul reassure her of not being sentence to death for bringing up Samuel who is now dead. Saul never wants to consult Samuel while Samuel was living, however now he is willingly to summons hell to hear from Samuel.

Now, Saul wants to call Samuel up out of his rest to hear a word from the Lord. Look how silly this is. He goes to hear from the Lord. I one time spoke to this brother, who was suppose to be a Christian, who told me that he could understand God better, when he did drugs. Sick! How can you understand God serving the devil, I will never be able to understand that. Instantly the woman knew it was King Saul no, sooner than Samuel appeared.

12. And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul.

This portion of scriptures says allot, if she is a physic, how is Saul able to deceive her?

13. And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth.

She saw demons, gods in the Bible with the little "g" means demons. This woman had the ability to see spirits coming up and down out of the earth. She could discern spirits of the underworld because she hath a familiar spirit inside of her showing her and telling her what these other demons were doing. People in the occult can discern spirits, people who operate in witchcraft are able to discern things in the supernatural realm. So do not be surprise when a physic gives you an accurate reading, the demons that are operating through the Physic and the demon knows everything that you have ever done from the time were born, you and your family history line. Demons are older than dirt, they know your whole life history.

Saul sought for information from a witch, a psychic, why because he was fearful of his future, and because of his constant rebellion against the Lord. Any time you call a psychic to read you your future, and speak to you through the use of tarot cards or Oji board you are dealing with familiar spirits, and once you do that, they are allowed to enter you, because you gave them permission to guide you, instruct you. Thereby these spirits can do what ever they want with you, because you now belong to them with your permission, whom you yield your member to that is who you will serve.

13. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Now remember the witch of Endor stated that she saw god’s with the little "g" meaning demons ascending from the earth. We know the word ascending means to rise up, or to go from a lower level, to a higher level. We also know that this woman was able to discern spirit; she was able to see into the spiritual realm, have visions. Therefore, since Saul came to a witch house in disguse, Satan decides to hide himself from Saul and the witch. This was the only way an evil spirit could impersonate Samuel. Remember God did not want Samuel to have anything to do with Saul, while he was living, why would he allow Samuel to come to Saul in death? God rejected Saul; remember Saul could not get a word from the Urim, prophets, nothing.

Therefore, Saul makes his complaint to the fake Samuel “I am sorely distressed, the Philistines make war with me”. No kidding, Satan is acting as if he is Samuel, Saul has no discernment, that he is not talking to Samuel, but to a demon. Therefore, the demon gives Saul a stone cold answer, with the intent to drive Saul towards self-destruction. “You are going to die”, which happens, the Philistines came up against Saul and kill his sons, this action caused Saul to want to kill himself. It is a trick and Saul became the trick.

What is a trick you maybe wondering? Remember a trick is an action or device designed to deceive, cheat, or outwit another, and this definitions come from the Webster Dictionary. A treat is food or entertainment. A treat is anything that gives great or unusual pleasure, delight, or entertainment. Saul got trick, and he became the devils entertainment piece.

4. Then said Saul to his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. So Saul took a sword, and fell upon it.

So what have we learn?

1. Halloween began when people thought they could conjure up Samhian to foretell of future events

2. We see in I Samuel 28 that witchcraft does not begin when you go to see a physic, but begins when you stop obeying God’s Word.

Why did Saul die?

3.We also see God does judge his people.  God did not take Saul life, but He allowed   Saul to be take his own life.

Saul lost the anointing; therefore, the devil was able to do pretty much what he wanted to do with Saul.
