58Hello, my name is Ivan the Terrible. I live down to my name.
I don't expect to make many friends on these pages because I am an opinionated person, and I don't care much about who I rub the wrong way. Life is full of anger and angst and I carry my share. I admit it and bear the responsibility for it. I am not in a state of denial over who I am or what I represent.
I'm a bitter Liberal, neo Socialist who cares little for my old patria, the U.S. of A. because I left it for a better life elsewhere. In the 60's someone bashed in my nose, kicked my groin and told me "America! Love it or leave it!" So, I left, and never regretted it a day.
I argue daily with Fascists and Anarchists and Communists who are among my best friends, even though we disagree on politics. I look at America from afar now and I wonder why you can't have a decent argument there without dragging out guns and blowing each other away.
As I said, I don't expect to make freinds here because so many of my former companions there have either forgotten their radical roots or are just trying to make enough money to live their hollywood dreams.
I have also watched as your strange religious ideas have neutered your country, making it the laughing stock of hypocrisy. Many of the people I used to know in the U.S. are just like the Islamic terrorists you all seem to obsessed with. Religious fervor, killing in the name of your god. Denying science because your bible tells you so. Are you for real?
I know I'll get a tongue lashing because I write this, but you should not be angry with me - I am just telling you the truth of how you are viewed in many other places.
Well, good luck with your current crisis. Greed caused it all and you brought it on yourselves, so don't blame socialists or Liberals. Maybe you'll learn a lesson from it, but I doubt it. I think you'll just go on living your lives oblivious to the things you do to harm yourselves.

I like your style Ivan. I'd really like to see a hub from you comparing the kapitalist system with the more balanced one in Spain.
Your views as a former u.s. citizen should be very informative to those of us who have not been able to travel and experience other societies directly.
I will work on that. there are so many things I gained by leaving the US that most people there would turn up their noses at because of course Spain is a small nation while the US seems to believe it is the best thing since corn flakes.
I would very much like to see my former country shape up and live up to its best ideals, but it seems there are some who want everything to go their way, such as those who put on that ridiculous tea party crap. Since they lost the election they seem to be trying to find a way to discredit your president Obama. While the man is not perfect, he at least tries to reach out to other nations. In Spain he is generally popular, although there is still a lot of distrust about the US.
One difference here is that fascists proclaim themselves oipenly and don't use tactic to appear one way while really acting another way.
Ivan my friend. You are so wrong. You are product of not environment, but what are you associated with. I was not born yesterday and I left Europe you know why. Now America is infested with angry liberals as you are. You have a job, meals, exercise, sport, books, but just wait, people in jail have the same. It will come, because socialism is nonstop train. Socialism is prelude of communism. Then there is no way to escape. I almost died swimming across Adriatic Sea for 3 hours. You left America free. As I say what are you fed you are. I love you even you are angry. Well, you have free speech. But wait, European Union are already censoring their citizens. As far you comply and you are liberal you will be OK. But do not think you "special socialism" will last. Mark my words.
Thank you, Vladimir, of course we do not agree on some subjects but I respect your stuggle to find your way in the crazy world we live in. I also respect and honor your journey to freedom. Keep writing and even though we may disagree on politics, we will find other things we agree on.
Hi. Thanks. When I escaped I got 3 years jail. My dad went to court and asked only for one year. I laughed. My dad was the carpenter promoted by communist. But they did not listen to him. So I got 3 years jail. I could not go visit I would end in jail.
Please don't be hard on believers. I just finished hub addressed to unbelievers. We never claime we are perfect. Otherwise we would not need perfect Man.

Ivan:...We humans are an infant life form. We are profoundly involved in our continuing evolution. We Americans have accomplished, In slightlyover 200 yrs,more "progress" in science and politics than cultures many millenia older than ours. The same opportunities existed for them as existed for us.. Remember, "man" evolved as dietary "generalists and became the most feared, potent and efficient predator that mother nature has produced to date on this planet. I think you know that for a species to sublimate it's genetic programming it must adapt and pass it's "improved" genes on to it's progeny. For a genetic change of the magnitude that would alter the characteristics of the life form noticeably, about 200,000 yrs of genetic mutations would be necessary. Each of us is responsible for the joy we experience in our short lives. We are conscious, willful creatures. We in the USA are "mongrels." We have invited people from all cultures, races, creeds and abilities to join us in the creation of a "new" way of life. We are a potpourri of genetic characteristics...that is what has made us strong. The viability of a mongrel is greater than that of the pure bred. Every nation experiences problems in maturation. Our nation certainly is. If we dont make the changes necessary to survive, no doubt, we shall perish. Time has the answers.
