JESUS AND THE TWO THIEVES
69HAVE YOU EVER WONDER
there were two theives crucified with Jesus at calvary which one of the thieves did Jesus say theses words to
Luke 23:43
And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise
was it the one on the right or the one on the left ?
What i read in my bible it does not say
I don't mean to offend anyone but here is my opinion
my opinion only i see that it was the one on the right
you don't have to agree i see that those two thieves was a example for us as to which way we should choose there is a right way and there is a wrong way you have a choice of how you want to live your life
i know we should always do the right thing in our life and i know we will all make mistakes for no one is perfect here on earth
And when Jesus who sits on the right hand of the Father and when the Father says the time has come and there he will seperated the sheep on the right and the goats on the left

sandra has got her basics right
This is what I read their names were Dimas the one on the right and Gestas the one on the left
But we can’t be sure if these were their names but in bible it does not say
it dosen't really matter what their names are as long as we make the right choice
I know its not that important we get the names right, but I think it does say in the Bible what the guys names are, it was mentions before the crux, I forget what gospel, but before the crux, Jesus had already met them and told him that one would be in Heaven before Jesus, so then the point of the crux and what was said, was that a promise is a promise.
You should hit sirdent up with this question, he would probably know.
if you happen to find it let me know
Good hub. Their name aren't metioned in the Bible.
This is what I have read but no bible that I can find for this
Saint Dismas that went to paradise
Gestas or Gesmas,
Unless I am mistaken, it is Catholics who give sainthood to people. How they do it or how they justify I have no idea. It is only by the grace of God that man can be saved and are made righteous.
There is no name for either of the thieves in the Word of God.
i didn't think that the bible gave the names
i believe it is catholics
The names are interesting, but the outcome is what is important. Thanks from a fan!
Grace and peace/
thanks for reading
GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME
Grace and peace
Good hub. Their name aren't metioned in the Bible.
God bless you
thank for reading
I could not recall reading the names of the 2 thieves.
i don't believe the bible tells the names of the two
thanks for reading
Dear Commenonthis, This is wonderful scripture. Thank you for sharing. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
Isn't it wonderful to know that anyone who beleives on the Lord Jesus Christ shall be saved. Barbie
thanks for reading yes it is and he love us enough to give his own life so we could have life who else would have done that for us
Thank you for this hub.
Two is the number of witness. Jesus sent the disciples out by two’s to witness. Cain and Abel witnessed of two choices for mankind. In the mouth of two shall a matter be established etc
The thieves are not named because they represent all of mankind. “Whoever” (Jn 3:16) We are all "thieves" and we all have two choices.
I was a thief – Jesus died for me – I had the choice of what to do with God’s gracious provision for me.
We only have two choices – reject or accept Jesus as Savior. John 3:18 “He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Having said that, I agree, he was “right” in that he made the “right” choice / decision. But that of course has nothing to do with what side of Jesus he was hanging.
If we are not careful, we won’t be able to see the forest for the trees.
I hope you don’t mind my adding my two cents worth. It’s not that I disagree with you. I understand you were simply giving your opinion. I’m just trying (as others here) to keep the main thing the main thing.
Thank you again. ~ eddie
thanks for reading and i don't mind you adding your two cents God Bless
mark and mathew have different accounts..one says both thieves mocked Jesus. The oth says remember me in Heaven... Good post!
thanks for the comment
JESUS HAS SAID NOT TO THE THIEVES. BUT THE BIBLE SHOWS US THAT WE ALL THE HUMANBEING WHO HAVE SINNED AGAINST GOD AND MAN ARE THE THIEVES AND SINNERS. WE SHOULD REPENT FOR OUR SINS. WE SHOULD LIVE OUR LIFE HELPING OTHERS AS JESUS DID. WHE SHOULD NOT KEEP ALL THE WEALTH WITHIN OURSELVES. WE SHOULD DISTRIBUTE IT TO GOOD ORPHANAGE. ALL THE CHILDRENS WHO STAYS THERE ARE OUR CHILDREN. THOSE WHO ARE STORING THE WEALTH AMONG THEMSELVES ARE THIEVES AND SINNERS. WEALTH IS PERISIBLE BUT LOVE IS NON-PERISIBLE.
thanks for your comment
heres a better question!!!!! does jesus have a last name?????
Thanks for reading as far as a last name i would say no a lot might say it was Christ
I can say that this hub caused me to have true goose bumps while I read it! I think the point that the bible (God's Word) is intending the reader to recieave, is that yes we are to choose the right path, however if we do not choose the right way Jesus died on the cross so that we may also be forgiven (By His Grace) and still live in paradise!

One must remember that the Bible was created from Ancient Scrolls given into the hands of the ruler Constantine in about 250ad. He decided which scrolls to add and which ones were to be destroyed as heresy or confusion. The fact that the 2 thieves were not mentioned in the bible is just one more fact that was omitted. I believe their names were, indeed, Dismas and Gestas (sic) but the spellings differ depending on where you read about them. I do think it is interesting about the comment earlier that the 2 thieves were possibly a parable ie Dismas (deretive of dismal?) on the left and Gestas (Justice?) on the right.
Thanks for you comment God Bless
Very good assessment!! I have never caught that symbolic reference to the two thieves, as the sheep on the right and goats on the left. But you know, it also brings another scripture to my mind now. (John 10:1-5).
"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber." ( John 10:1) The other verses are extremely relevant to the two thieves as well.
Thank you for sharing this!! I'm your newest fan! Peace n' Blessings!! ~ K
thank you
the most important question is 'WHAT CAN A MAN DO TO BE SAVED ?' and not all these things you pentecostal muchroom churches talk about. You make new churches everyday instead of building on a current one. Jesus that you lot talk about build on a previouse church, he did not build a new church.
who said i was pentecostal who talkng about churches
A thief who was probabaly stealing his whole life "steals" paradise at the cross.

Titus, I think that was his name, and on the right, and for why? Because he believed.
