Who is Julio Cesar Chavez
Julio Cesar Chavez Gonzalez was born in Ciudad Obregon, Mexico on July 1962. His amateur career would start at sixteen. His first championship would come after defeating Mario Martinez in Los Angeles. This win would deliver him the WBC super featherweight title. His second title would be against Edwin Rosario and award him the WBA lightweight championship. He would then win the WBC super lightweight title by knockout from Roger Mayweather, brother of Floyd Mayther Sr. and uncle of Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Taylor and Haugen
Controversy surround his fight against Meldrick Taylor, after a referee stopped the match with only two seconds left. Meldrick Taylor was winning on the scorecards, but Chavez would win. He would also win in a rematch several year later. Another controversy would be his fight with Greg Haugen, who ignited publicity for the fight by making a the rascist comment about Chavez's 82 win unbeaten streak as "Tijuana taxi drivers that my mother could have knocked out"
First Draw, First Loss
His first draw would come against Pernell Whitaker in 1993. In 1994 his first loss would come against Frankie Randall, who also knocked him down for the first time of his career. Chavez would later win in a rematch for his title. They would rematch again in 2004 and Chavez would win this rematch as well.
De La Hoya
He would finally be challenged by De La Hoya in 1996, only to have a right eye cut reopen in only the first round, he lost as the fight was stopped in the fourth round. He would later lose in a rematch in 1998 in a Welterweight championship.
Retirement
He would retire in 2001 and un-retire in 2003. During this time he would win his rematch with Frankie Randall, a fight against Ivan Robinson and finally retire for good after being beat by little-known Grover Wiley after suffering an injury in the fifth round.

In total he is considered one of the greatest boxers of all time. His career is 108 wins, 6 losses, 2 draws and 87 wins by way of knockout. He also hold a record for most title fights at 37.
