Jab We Met Review

Jab We Met, directed by Imtiaz Ali is one of the most refreshing wholesome family entertainer this year (yes much better than Bhool Bhulaiya since Bhool...succeeded only because of Akshay Kumar). Imtiaz Ali did live upto and even bettered the promise he showed in "Socha Na Tha". The story is a road movie like Bunty Babli, Jhoom Ugh Jhoom and many others that have been recently released...but the only comparable movie which I can safely say I enjoyed equally was "Dil Hai Ki Maanta Nahin". Jab.. should score at least on originality!
Kareena is superb as the Seekhni Geet who breezes through life trying to solve others problems and living life to the fullest. She is supported in this by an equally crazy family. Aditya (Shahid Kapur) on the other hand comes from a sober family in the midst of a tragedy as also a personal tragedy in his life. The chemistry between both Kareena and Shahid finally works on-screen (to fall apart off screen!) Geet literally takes Aditya's life into her hands to turn him around from a case of acute depression....from where Aditya reaches out to greater success and wealth. Geet's world through her rose tinted lenses has meanwhile taken a turn which she hadnt anticipated...
The scenes between Aditya and Geet are cute. Kareena's performance is astonishing... this role was tailormade for her! Shahid Kapur looks a sweetheart and should have girls swooning given his "free and available" status now. The editing is crisp. The music by Pritam is good but I dont think it will outlive the movie. One could see the audience lapping up the scenes between Kareena and Shahid.
The DVD of the movie released yesterday...and it will be worth keeping!
