Jack Russell Terrier Training

Jack Russell Terrier training is not as difficult as some people may think. Jack Russell Terriers are such high energetic dogs, it's easy to see why many people become annoyed by them. It's their high energy temperament that can put a lot of people off; whether they are your neighbors or families. It's essential the Jack Russell Terrier training must begin immediately after taking ownership or approximately 8 - 10 weeks after birth.

Here is a list of tips for Jack Russell Terrier training.

  1. Establish dominance over your Jack Russell, your JR must know who is the dominant one. If he becomes dominant, it will hard to break him of his nasty habits.
  2. The onset of training should begin immediately when he arrives to his new home. Make sure rules and boundaries are set.
  3. Do you discipline your children in an inconsistent manner? Probably not, you must remain consistent in all means of training. Do not let him potty on the carpet one time and then the next time try and discipline him. It will be a futile effort and your JR may become confused.
  4. Ensure that your JR listens to and hears your voice. They are very energetic and you can never tell what could happen if your JR does not listen to commands when outside.
  5. Do not ever allow your JR to display aggressive behavior like growling and snapping. It's a sign that your dog want to remain dominant. You must nip this behavior quickly.
  6. In reality, the quicker and a more disciplined approach you take to Jack Russel Terrier training, the more loyal your JR will become.
