I like small museums, the kind which you will not leave exhorsted and in need of fresh air. A small museum has an intimacy to it, which the huge museums don't.

One of the most beautiful and charming small museums in Paris is I think Musée Jacquemart André. This museum is located in the 8th arrondissement, in a former great private mansion, from the 19th century, where you can get the feeling of the grandeur of this period, the Second Empire open 365 days a year, only 5 minutes from the Champs-Elysées, on the boulevard Haussmann,158. This beautiful museum is also one of the really romantic spots in Paris, don't miss it.

The museum contains works of French artists such as Fragonard, Boucher and Nattier, of Dutch artists such as Rembrandt and Van Dyck, as well as paintings from the Italian renaisance and great English painters, such as Reynolds and Hoppner.

One of the more delicious attractions of this beautiful museum, is the Café Jacquemart-André. Don't leave without enjoying this place, it is one of the most beautiful tea rooms in Paris.

Address: 158 boulevard Haussmann, 75008 Paris

Opening hours: 10 - 18, 365 days a year.

Metro: Miromesnil or St-Philippe-du-Roule

In the area: Parc Monceau and Arc de Triomphe. Parc Monceau is a beautiful park just a few minutes walk from the museum, and a wonderful place to relax if the weather is good.
