I have lived and worked in Jakarta, Indonesia on two seperate occassions for a total of 4 years. both times I found few places in the world had the nightlife that Jakarta does. Sure you've got cities with amazing nightlife; Bangkok, Paris, Miami, NYC, the Spanish islands or even London. Truth is Jakarta offers what all of these cities do in one wild night of fun!

Take a look at the clubs themselves. You have high end amazing nightclubs. BATS (my favorite), X2, and dragonfly all offer technology, DJ's, and architecture that is on par with the hottest clubs in the world. The music is flowing and so are the drinks.

As you move past the basic details of the clubs you find that the people are as nice and friendly as you will find in Thailand or Spain. Sorry folks but the some other places just aren't filled with friendly people...

With that said, the clubs offer all you would want in a night of fun. For my money BATS at the Shangri-La is jakarta's best place to go. Others might think it's X2 or Dragonfly and I an hapy to hear that as well. All of these clubs offer a wonderful experience and twaeks the fun to who you are as an individual. BATS is a big Expat hangout and full of some of the most beautiful woman in the Asia. X2 is filled with the local youth and an energy that is very jakarta specific. if you want a more international appeal then Dragonfly is your place to be.

I know some of you undrstand Jakarta and are asking why I left out Red Square? Well, it's just too darn loud and I can't get past the idea of spending time in a club where you can't talk to anyone. After all, half the fun of going out is meeting new people and exploring a side of life you just can't get at home.

For the time effort and money it takes to go out in other parts of the world I would thnk more people would get on a plane and head to Jakarta. It's worth it and you will leave with a big smile on your face.
