Japanese Bathtub Styles

I'm a very big advocate of bathing, as opposed to showering. Most Americans don't feel they have time to really indulge in a bath, and I'm telling you, a bath can totally change the way you feel. Bathing gives your muscles a chance to soak, whereas showering doesn't. Yes, a shower feels good, but it's nothing compared to a bath. If you don't believe me, you've never had a proper bubble bath. And they aren't just for women, either!

While there are numerous bathtub styles available, today we're looking at Japanese Soaking Tubs, which are designed for upright bathing. In other words, you sit on the built-in seat and soak in the deep water. If this sounds strange, it's really quite comfortable; I have a similar type of bathtub and I absolutely love mine -- and it makes showering and shaving far easier and more comfortable. When it comes to Japanese soaking tubs, you can find a number of styles and shapes online, as well as some interesting combinations. The prices come in all shapes and sizes, too, so if the first one you see seems a bit steep, keep looking; you’re sure to find one in your budget. You can even find tubs specially made to fit in with your Feng-Shui design!

Spa Equip Sakura Soaking Tub

This one is very fancy, if you can't tell from the photo. It's built for two people, and is situated so that they'd be facing each other. If you're into that kind of thing, this is pretty much the Trump version of Japanese Soaking Tubs.

It has an aromatherapy diffuser, multi-speed water jets (you people have such dirty minds..) and even moonlighting, if you can believe it!

Price: $5,995

Takagi -TP Soaking Tub

This one you can buy online and it costs considerably less than the model above. It also weighs considerably less (50 pounds) and doesn't require special installation. It's a simple enough tub, but I'm sure it gets the job done. If you have a tiny bathroom, this would certainly give you more room to move about.

Price: $800

The Ofulo Soaking Tub

If you're just not into the idea of sitting in a traditionally styled Japanese bath, you could always opt for this one -- it's the same length as the standard American tub, but it's the same depth as the Japanese styles. This means you can recline as you normally would, and you'll still be able to soak properly.

Price: $999

Isabella! I just love a good long soak after a long day gardening its the thing to loosen up the old muscles and bones. I often even read while I soak.

Great hub regards Zsuzsy

There is nothing better then a bath after a stressful day, or any day really. It always feels so great to sit, soak, and enjoy a few moments of peace and reflection. The tubs you posted are stunning. My preference is a wider round tub. Great hub, love it!

I like the Sakura Soaking tub looks lovely. Is the bath tubs look small because of limited spaces there in Japan?
